O/S Daily Thread Thursday 11th September

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning TTFM & all who cross/follow.
I managed to get a bit more done on my quilt last night, I'm hoping to carry on when I get home, depends how tired I am when I get in.
Pork chops for tea tonight for hubby, I'll have stuffed mushrooms.
DS2 came over last night, it's ages since we've seen him, he's loving being a firefighter & was telling us about a couple of the shouts he's been on. He arrived just as we were eating, so I fed him too, he's just moved into a new flat & his landlady is being a nuisance, so far she's tried to put the rent up after 2 weeks & drunk all his milk!
Time I set off to work.
Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now getting light, dry underfoot and not windy, seems like we may get a dry day, hoping for some sunshine too.
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early. DS1 now getting ready to leave for work.
Dinner last night was pork chops, new potatoes, HG green beans, carrots, peas and gravy, HM apple crumble and custard. The apples in the crumble were freebies that mum and dad brought over, so made a nice change, I did have a small portion, and there’s some left. Tonight should be chicken and ham kievs, chips, beans and salad for the menfolk, I’ll be having fishcake, jacket potato and veg. The chicken and ham kievs are part of the MrT online order that is being delivered between 3-4pm so hoping they arrive, will have to have a re-think if they don’t – but could do fish, (as long as it arrives with the MrT order) chips and beans or spag bol, (I have all the ingredients to do this already), so I do have a few options, it’s great to have a few options on standby for when life doesn’t go according to plan!
DS1 seems to be settling in to his job and seems quite happy, hoping this will continue.
Finding the days quite long as I can see what needs doing but am unable to get on with it, and the menfolk are helping and doing their best, so I’m not going to grumble at them, just can’t wait to be up and about properly again, there will certainly be enough to keep me occupied, I just want to get back to some sort of normal routine, ie, me back at work doing what I usually do! It’s strange that we don’t appreciate our normal day to day living and routine until it’s changed then we realise how much we should be grateful for it. The C word isn’t that far away either, so by the time I’m back on my feet properly – it’ll be time to get sorted for then, so will take this opportunity whilst I’m off to search online for some prezzies so I can at least be a bit prepared.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's looking to be a lovely day again here but I am planning on staying home and having a quiet and relaxing day. I spent the evening last night making cards for Christmas with my new owl die. I was very pleased with how they turned out.
So far, only 2 out of 3 daughters have surfaced but knowing the one that is missing, she is slapping on her makeup and choking us all in clouds of hairspray. She is a mystery to me as I have never been interested in wearing makeup and neither have my other daughters but since DD13 was little, she was fascinated with jewellery and cosmetics, and now spends ages everyday making sure her face and hair are perfect.
I've taken some chicken breasts out to defrost so I will be cooking them in one of those Maggi bags later and serve them with roast potatoes and broccoli. I also want to bake some custard cookies and maybe some banana and chocolate muffins if we have any squishy bananas.
Well, that's all my waffle for now. Hope you all manage to have a nice day, take care xx0 -
Morning all
Another morning of 'nagging' everyone to get out of bedHave succeeded and they are now eating breakfast
Not a lot to do today - a bit of ironing, cleaning the bathrooms, a quick straighten round. Last night, ten minutes before dinner, I called the kids down and got them to tidy up the things they could see needed doing, I asked OH to set the table and it worked well so I am going to try it again tonight.
I've been thinking about apple and celeriac soup so will pop into the local Aldi today and see if they have any celeriac. We can have that for starters tonight then. I love having the soup as it helps fill everyone up. I do wish I could get the fussy one to eat it though. She just refuses and I don't want to turn food into a battle.
Going to do a bit more nagging nowbut will pop back later. Have a good morning

Morning All
Not much to report - DDs bedroom is coming on, I think she has chosen the colours now, just need to choose a floor. Bought some hinges (my 3rd trip to B&Q in 3 days!).
It's a bit foggy here but I will put the washing out anyway, must look to see what the weather is going to do. DW on and WM on its second load.
Enjoyed last night's baked pot, I had forgotten how much I like mushy peas! Some sort of beef mince and squash chilli for tea, DD is off so she can cook, hopefully it will be ready when I get back from the hospice.
Struggling with the housework as there is plaster dust and sawdust everywhere but doing my best!
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX0 -
