  • Morning, ((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

Prayers needed today for my friend in the US, her MIL had a stroke on Monday night, they have been told it was 'catastrofic' but the hospital are talking about putting a peg into her stomach to feed her. If the poor woman is not going to improve then what is the point? it makes me wild she is 85, has a pacemaker and takes a lot of drugs a day, was showing signs of senile dementia....let the poor soul pass in peace. B has admitted that her MIL would not want to live if she were a burden......I feel so sorry for her and the family. Sorry rant over.

A sunny morning but boy its chilly. OH is in the garden mixing farmyard manure with compost to put on our new sq.ft garden. He wants to get his garlic in.

No idea what I am going to do except hard boil some eggs for egg mayo sarnies for lunch and make macaroni cheese for supper. Have enough of the rhubarb and blackberry crumble left for dessert tonight.

I am going to have to renew my passport, OH wants to go back to France. Getting insurance for him might be a problem.......although the Drs say as there is no cause for his dizzies it is not a condition likely to see him off, I am not sure what the insurance people will think.

Off to sort out the supper and maybe do some sewing..........

    Morning all,

Prayers offered for your friends' MIL Csarina.

Nothing much for me to do today, just some laundry and a few bits and pieces.

One of the babies in the Baby House is being adopted today. I'm so happy for her. She will grow up to be loved and wanted despite her shaky start.

The two new babies have settled in nicely so I'm told.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

  • Morning all,

Not as nice here today but it looks dry and bright. Had a horrific start to the day though, three car smash (no serious injuries) closed the road into town so I had to try and get off the main road and make my way to a back road. Took me over an hour to get to work which, without traffic, would take 15 minutes :(

Spent a few hours in the garden last night, I'm next door to a school and there is an area of scrub/waste land on the other side of the fence where a huge number of brambles and nettles are growing into my garden along with some large trees blocking all the light. I did contact the council but got a rather unenthused response. I cleared all the weeds that had moved onto my side of the fence and cut back some of the tree too. I then got a message from someone involved in the school to tell me that there is actually a question mark over who owns that strip as there also used to be a fence on the school side of it but it was removed through damage. I'm now intending on doing a lot more clearing of the trees as it really blocks all the light in the afternoon/evening from a garden that should be bright all day.
When clearing all the brambles I was thinking to myself that you'd all kick me out of the OS club for not picking the berries and using them in some way, all I could think about was getting it the heck out my garden :)

Hugs to those who need/want them

I forgot to say to all you custard cookie enthusiasts, I sometimes use a bit more plain flour than the recipe says when I use a dairy free spread as it seems a bit too wet to 'roll'. Mine are in the oven as I write and smelling lovely :):):) .

Hi everyone hope all is well,

I am having a pottering at home day today as I was out much of yesterday, first in town to buy DGS Mummy a birthday present,& DS2 asked me to pick up a handbag she'd liked but they didnt have any in stock, and he tried another outlet last night and still no joy so she might have to wait for an online order. They don't live together now but are getting on a lot better atm than when they split up so its kinda on/off and they are spending some time as a family at weekends so you never know....
After that I got on a bus and went up to the new house as DH forgot his mobile and he had several messages he needed to know about regarding the new roof.He and DS were just knocking an opening out to put double doors between 2 rooms & it was very dusty so I went outside. The stone has been sandblasted and the back garden cleared so it looks much better.Chimneys have been swept & a bedroom ceiling dropped,DH looked like a sweep himself :rotfl:So good progress but they have had to go back to the day job now for the forseeable but the roofer can carry on with the new roof, they can't do much else now till thats done anyway.
Got some more elderberries and a few blackberries when out with Lyla so theyve been made into more syrup this morning. Its a lovely day here today,we met loads of doggy friends out.
Making turkey burgers for tea tonight.Right must carry on with my jobs so hope you all have a good day.MMmm custard cookies eh ;) sounds good :rotfl:xx

  • Afternoon all,

Hope everyone is well. DH had his little procedure yesterday and has spent the last 24 hours resting.

I think I will be making the Custard Cookies shortly too :)

We have mince for dinner tonight, probably with veg and gravy.

Swift recovery wishes for Mr Busiscoming.:o Mr LW had his little operation many years ago, before I met him, thankfully.;)

I've snagged the custard cookies recipe, and will give it a try when I have my kitchen back; the workmen are coming Monday to commence the refit, and we've been gradually packing up everything we can possibly manage without into archive boxes, so I'm not in a position to do any baking at present.

My thoughts are with your friend, Deleted_User, that sounds absolutely horrific.

The custard cookie recipe looks interesting. I need to do some baking - the boyfriend has just started training to be a teacher, he told them I love baking so I'm now getting requests! :p

Had a blood test this morning which was a bit of a pain as I received an email this morning and they decided to change the time and place! But I made it so I'm glad that's over with :)

Feeling positive today, the house is nice and clean, just the bathrooms that need a deep clean and I think I'm going to save that for the weekend. I bought loads of figs yesterday as they were part of Aldi's super 6 (that ended yesterday) and found this fig and ginger jam recipe which looks delicious. I also bought 1.5kg parsnips for 18p, so parsnip soup is definitely on the horizon! So, I need to pop out and buy stuff for the jam & some extra ingredients for the soup - just seen Aldi's new super 6 involves carrots, celery & onion so that'll be excellent for my soup making!

Hope everyone is having a good evening!
  • A grey and overcast day here as well and it is cooler.
Shopping today and I didn't need to much apart from milk and eggs

Another kilo of runner beans today, so I have them to prep later
The kale seems to be recovering from the caterpillar attack, which is good because I went into the greenhouse to check the seedlings that I had just started and a ruddy snail has munched them all away The snail was dispatched toot suite, I also found a couple of slugs in there and they have been a-salted as well.

Then I gave the garden a good soaking and pulled out some weeds and got stung by nettles all up my right arm is tingling
Good job I did dinner early today.

Right I had better get the washing in

    BFN xx
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
