Hi
A couple of years ago I found a nadia swalha (sp) soup recipe where you use a whole chicken, chilli, a whole load of other herbs and veg etc but can't find it now. Does anyone else have it please? Basically, everything was simmered for six hours or so and was beneficial to those who were ill?
I would love to find this recipe xx

I don't have that one but if you don't find it - I have a recipe for chicken soup that is nicknamed Jewish Penicillin. Just shout if you need it"We always find something, hey Didi, to give us the impression we exist?" Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.

When I cook a chicken I crush the bones up and dump them into my slow cooker. You can use a pressure cooker as well. I then cover the bones with water not too much just to cover. Then leave it overnight or all day in slow cooker. The bones will become really soft.
Then I pour the lot into a collander over a bowl. Then strain again through a metal sieve to get rid of any remaining small bones.
you can then freeze the stock or make some healing soup.
Mix 1/2pt of the stock with 1/2pt of milk in a saucepan. Mix 1tablespoon of cornflower with a little water then add to pan with 1teaspoon of powdered garlic and 1 teaspoon of onion granules. Bring to boil slowly and whisk until thickened. Salt and pepper to taste. Thats my version of the jewish mothers healing soup.
there is something that is healing in the bones like penicillin apparently.
I gave this to my son when he had man flu last week its all he fancied.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”
