Easy batch cooks
Any ideas? I need freezer ideas for lunch and dinner. Also ideas for sweet treats that will keep in maybe a tupperwear box for a few days, tray bakes, or biscuits or something. I can do a great bolonese, both vegetarian and using meat, which can turn easily into a lasanae. But bit stuck for ideas beyond that. Please keep…

Magic Erasers - Magic!
I am astounded as these bits of white sponge! I had never used one until today. My neighbour has been raving about them for cleaning the white UPC doors, window frames etc and I must admit I was a bit sceptical. However, she gave me one to try and I have spent an hour or so wiping down my door and downstairs window frames.…

Hand-held Dyson
Any one got one of these? I have rheumatoid arthritis mainly in my hands and thought this might be useful for hoovering around the carpet edges, stairs, car etc. I can hoover large areas with ordinary hoover but OH has to carry it up and down stairs for me. I have been reading varying reviews. Some good, some bad. They are…

Street party - ideas/hints/tips?
I'm a member of a particularly inefficient committe who 'run' a local community centre. They've been telling everyone that there will be a street party in September but no-one has actually stepped forward to handle the organisation, so it has become my task  I've canvassed the householders along the street and those…

Slugs coming into the house!!!
There are three types of creatures I just can't stand and they are slugs/snails, spiders and butterflies/moths. Fortunately, I can deal with the latter two quite well, it's just slugs I can't deal with. For as long as I can remember, I have woken up to slime trails across the rug in our living room. This has happened ever…

Long post warning - Forget a hero, I need a map!
I hope you don't mind. I need some help to plan for the next month. I've got into a little bit of a mess financially recently, and I could really do without spending any money at all on food until the end of August. I know that sounds crazy, but I think I can do it with a little help. I inherited my Irish grandmothers…

anyone using terracotta cooking pot?
I was gifted a big terracotta casserole dish but it's unglazed I think (dull finish not shiney). Bit worried about how to use it?

Appeal for cheap cold meal ideas
The temperature in my house is currently well over 30 C and I am struggling to feed us in our normal budget, without cooking and adding to the unbearable heat, largely as I keep going to the supermarket for more salad items and can't resist picking up stuff we don't really need (ice cream) while there. I have £50 to feed…

Best ever Ploughman's Lunch
I had a Ploughman's Lunch this afternoon and whilst eating it I wondered how others made theirs :) I has tomato, lettuce, cucumber, spring onions, grated carrots, sweet corn, Branston pickle, a chunk of Red Leicester and a small crusty roll :) Lunch was lovely but would you do your Ploughman's differently?

cover for recliner?
I'm moving soon, and want to change the style of my living room, I've reclaimed a lot of old shabby chic things, but my black leather recliner sofas don't really 'fit' now. Is there a way to cover them? Sofa covers won't work as we do 'recline' a lot Thank you

Empty Nest
The last of our two children has just left home. plus DH has been told he will loose his job by the latest next spring but maybe much sooner. I think it's now time to start looking at thing's afresh.
