O/S Daily Sunday 27th July
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Can't believe we are nearing August  Time just seems to be whizzing by.
Had another night of not being able to sleepFeeling shattered after spending time in the kitchen yesterday so it's going to be a gentle day for me today.
We are having a full lamb roast today with mash, roasties, veg, yorkshires, gravy. Everyone helps themselves from serving dishes on a Sunday so a huge amount is cooked - a mission in itself
I want to do some sort of pudding and came across this recipe:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=523656&postcount=135
which would be very quick and easy to do. Served with some custard the kids will be thrilled with it
The sun is already shining bright here so I'm going to sit in the garden for a bit before anyone else gets up. Have a lovely Sunday all2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Sky is overcast and quite a breeze, not so humid, but still forecast to be hot. We have had some rain during the night as it’s damp underfoot. Will water plants and greenhouse shortly.
DH and myself up enjoying peaceful first cuppas of the day.
Dinner last night was HM ham and mushroom pizza, HM spare ribs, salad and new potatoes – was really delicious – I’d forgotten how much better home cooked food tastes than ready bought. Whilst I was prepping the food, mum and dad bought DS2 home after taking him out for the day, and dad asked what I was cooking, when I replied I was making spare ribs with sauce, he said you can buy them already made to just put in the oven – I then said but they don’t taste as good as these and these are really easy to make. Cost wise HM are cheaper I got the butcher to cut the rack of ribs into single pieces ready to pre-cook and there was 12 reasonably sized ribs in the pack for just over £3 – ready made one’s cost more than that, are not so big and don’t have that many ribs in a pack. Also I know what’s in what I’ve cooked. Today lunch is going to be roast lamb, roasties, mash, carrots, cabbage, broccolli, peas, Yorkshires and gravy.
Yesterday I got some of the jobs done – I was going to do some baking but spoke to DH and yesterday developed into being a really hot day with no air – he said to just go and buy some cakes as putting the oven on was going to be roasting – so I did, not very many but enough to satisfy the menfolk’s sweet tooth.
We need to go to the caravan today to take some items back and I want to get the bedding so I can get it watched and put back in – I already have a clean spare set in the caravan so just need to put the clean on and bring back the other to wash and dry.
Have peaceful Sundays’ everyone x
Take care in the sun and warm weather, remember the sunscreen x
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning and Happy Sunday.
jlh - you are correct! July is rushing to a close for another summer. August just around the corner..
Continuing to water the garden. Lots of flowers and vegetables growing.
Yesterday i picked tomatoes, runner beans, pea's. Raspberries and blackberries.
Picked the same again this morning.
Freebie postie delivered yesterday = Wilkinson sword razor with name on.
Watched the games yesterday afternoon. Then the rhythm gymnastics on Iplayer last night.
Just been invited on a nature walk. Trot around some large ponds. Wonder what wildlife we will see?
I have been sitting out in the garden under the sun umbrella eating vienetta ice cream.
Dinner tonight is Tesco gammon ham with BBQ sauce, cook in the bag. Was £5.99 now £1.50.YS

Good Morning chums few bits of sewing to be done today (unless DD rings and wants to go to the coast )Mostly repairs .The boys school trousers need letting down as they have grown so much.If I do it now then it will be out of the way before they have to go back to school in September.Plus I have a flouncy black calf length skirt and one of the flounces has come adrift so that need stitching .Not big jobs but as I am not that keen on sewing they are things I have to make myself do
:):)I will happily knit for England but I've never liked sewing much My youngest Tessa (whose boys trousers I am fixing ) doesn't even own a needle and thread so she is far worse than me
:):) The boys just give me their stuff that needs doing as they know its pointless to ask Mum to do it
:):)
I'll probably listen to my beloved Archers whilst I am doing it ,the wireless is so restful at times:):)
Hope you all have a great day ,its starting to get warm already here in Kent
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Morning :hello:
It took me almost two and a half hours to watch an hour-long program yesterday - I was convinced my leg would seize up and I'd be stuck in the chair until mr tru came home if I sat for more than a few minutes at a time
I finally sorted the paperwork, it's all in date order. Haven't put it on the spreadsheets yet but at least I've made a start
Mr tru has planted leeks, kale and cabbages. Not holding out much hope for the cabbages but you never know
I have two compost daleks, they're both full and the compost is ready, I just have nowhere to spread it yet because the veg patch is still busy growing things. There's stuff waiting to be composted but I have nowhere to put it, it's piled up in big buckets on the patio at the moment. I'm too scared to lift them so I'll get mr tru to shift them next to the back of the veg patch later, at least they'll be hidden out of sight until I can get another dalek. I'd use the wheelbarrow but it's full of twigs and small branches. I'm sure I'm doing these things earlier than previous years? It seems like autumn's jobs need doing now.
I've been reading the Ploughman's thread, it's making me crave one so that's what I'm having for lunch

Good morning everyone
We had lots of rain overnight but am not sure it is much cooler today, we are forecast more rain this evening so maybe that will help. Anyway am making the most of the sunshine at the moment, the beds have been stripped and the bedding is washed and on the line.
Supposed to be going to DD's later for a barbecue but will see how she feels first. She is really suffering with her back and it's affecting her depression and has had to stop one lot of painkillers. MRI scan next Sunday can't come quickly enough.
Love and hugs and every possible positive and healing vibe for Molly and Mr and Mrs LW x
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Morning all
I totally wore myself out yesterday, cleaned all rabbits out (26 hutches) then dug/weeded the borders, mowed the lawn, weeded the veg patch, cleaned the house all through and sorted 14 bags of rubbish for dh to take to the tip, cleaned all the patio down and sorted the patio pots, made dinner and then collapsed into bed only to be woken at 2 by loud music playing, something you do not expect to hear in a sleep little village, it sounded like rave music...I was not impressed!
DH has just gone off to do the tip run, the garden is now finally clear of rubbish! .. I've just hoovered and polished now I shall peg the washing out, prepare the dinner and I think that shall do today - recharge my batteries ready for tomorrow, dh and myself shall be attempting to put the shed up....should be fun!
I was going to do a roast dinner but cannot be bothered faffing about so its kfc style chicken portions, wedges and HM coleslaw.
Hope you all have a lovely day xG.C July £21.09/£1000
