Best ever Ploughman's Lunch

I had a Ploughman's Lunch this afternoon and whilst eating it I wondered how others made theirs
I has tomato, lettuce, cucumber, spring onions, grated carrots, sweet corn, Branston pickle, a chunk of Red Leicester and a small crusty roll
Lunch was lovely but would you do your Ploughman's differently?

Wouldn't have salad with a Ploughman's, more oatcakes, different cheese, chutneys, grapes maybe apple. Oh an as said maybe pork pie...0

The more I think about it, these lunches usually turn into more of a picnic with scotch eggs, mini sausages, crusty bread. Wouldnt say its traditional but just ends up like that, few olives for good measure. I like going a drive and having a dinner picnic sometimes! Love the tesco finest branston pickle mini pork pies.0

Round here it'd be a couple of varieties of hard cheese (minimum two, preferably three), pickles, ham and/or pork pie, scallions (spring onions to you), wheaten bread or rolls and possibly tomato with an apple for dessert.
Definitely not lettuce, cucumber, grated carrots or sweet corn.0 -
Sweetcorn?!
I'm in the plain and simple camp for a ploughman's: the best I ever had was, strangely, at work - crusty cheese bread, butter, mature cheddar, pickle and apples. There was also some pate for people who didn't like cheese, and I had some of that as well - it doesn't really fit my idea of a ploughman's, but I like the stuff too much to say no!Back after a very long break!0 -

i agree without the apple it is just a cheese salad with bread!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
I think the original Ploughman thought himself lucky to get 'Bread and Cheese'.
I was thinking of marketing 'Miners Lunch' but a snap tin with a jam sandwich and a kitkat might not go down too well?0 -
Ploughmans needs a pickled onion or three.0
