Tabletop ironing boards
I got rid of my large ironing board when I realized that it was getting used less than once a week and it was taking up large amounts of space. I iron stuff for work and for evenings out only. Slovenly, I know. Instead I use the dining table which is fine but makes shoulders particularly difficult to iron. I was…

Best Stain Remover / Carpet Cleaner... Ever!
Like many, having a youngster and pets in the house, I've seen my fair share of stains on the carpet and other fabrics! I've been messing around with all sorts of store bought stain treatments and various recipes I've found here and elsewhere on the web. Today, I finally found the best treatment! I used an empty 500ml…

Potato salad with tinned potatoes
I want potato salad for tea but only have tinned potatoes (usually only use them for corned beef hash). Can I use them for potato salad? I find them bland and tasteless until I add salt but don't want salty potato salad. I suppose what I'm asking is how can I make it taste nice!!!

Finding nice things in odd places
I keep meaning to post this and forgetting. Last year I was visiting my doctor and parked in the car park beside the surgery. To my surprise I saw that there was a lot of white blossom in the hedge. I looked again in the autumn and there, hiding were MASSES of little wild plums, yellow and red, all hiding and ignored by…

Cheap working lunch
I don;t really use the forums on here very much, so if this is wrong place, please let me know the right one and I'll recreate it there (this board seemed reasonable). Anyway, my question is simple and I'm sure some of you must have faced similar before. I've just worked out the weekly cost of eating lunch at work and was…

How many portions of fruit and veg do you eat a day?
Think this would be the right place to post. Just wondering how many portions of fruit and vegetables others usually eat each day? I've made a conscious effort lately to eat more, nothing to do with recommendations, but just to try and increase the amount of good food in our diet and use it to replace the not so good. We…

frozen rhubarb
Hello! I've found some rhubarb lurking in the back of my freezer. It has to be at least a year old. Do you reckon it's still ok to shove into a crumble with a manky apple? Shall I defrost it first? xLV

MSE cleaning
Hi, I am really fed up of wasting money on cleaning products and things for the home that don't work. I've bought spray cleaners, polishes, mildew cleaners, microwave cleaners, floor cleaners, different wipes, a special sponge for removing cat fur off the furniture, nothing really works. What are your MSE cleaning tips?
