O/S Daily for Monday 12th April

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning!
Amazed I'm the only one up again!:rotfl:
DGD had a lovely birthday party. Some didn't come, but there were enough there already, any more and it would have been mad!

Went to Dad's home on Saturday for their Spring Fair. Got lots of bargain books for DGD, and won first prize on the raffloe, Bottle of champers:T That'll get drunk Friday!:rotfl:

I managed to get right into Hastings and shop yesterday on my scooter. Never done it before, always worried I was going to run out of battery, but No, only a quarter gone when I got back:T

Post office this morning to send off an ebay parcel and Easter cards.

Dinner will be something from the freezer.
    Enjoy the day!

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, brilliant blue sky, sun shining, no cloud, but nippy though but it’ll soon warm up. Washing on the line.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was jacket potatoes, salad, cold meats etc – I’d defrosted and cooked a whole chicken for the boys on Friday so they had some cold meat but they didn’t eat it all so we had it last night for dinner. Tonight we’ll be having the cook from frozen pork joint as we need to go to dad’s after I get in from work to take his birthday prezzie and card for his birthday which is tomorrow.

Had a great weekend, the site we stayed at is absolutely gorgeous and we’ll definitely go back. The promotional event went really well too, I think the good weather brought everyone out into the sunshine.

I think DH has given me his cold, as last night and this morning my throat feels a bit raw, but I shall start taking the vitamin c tabs just to see if it helps. He’s much better although he still has a bit of a cough.
DS1 passed his driving theory on Friday so he’s really pleased. He just now needs to pass the driving part.

Back to work for me today – can’t decide how it will be – likely to be busy as we’ll be shut Friday and next Monday – or the knock on effect will be a horrendous week next week when we re-open on Tuesday!

    Keep safe and well x

    [FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Morning :hello:[/FONT]

    [FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Jackie and Molly I hope you're both recovering well :)
    [/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]The tree is down :( Master tru is 24 years old, runs his own business and uses power tools every day but I couldn't watch him at the top of a ladder, waving a chainsaw about - I've seen lots of horror films  and my imagination was running riot :D I think mr tru wanted to do it and it was a battle of wills over who gets to play with the boys toys, lol. The old fence at the bottom of the garden is in bits on the floor and the concrete posts are in. Master tru is putting the fence up today. My dad wanted to help and said he'd bring his own tools, master tru told him he had all his own kit. Dad said yes but I'll feel like I'm going to work if I bring my own :D I think he finds retirement boring sometimes :D[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]The tree branches are on our drive at the moment, I have to cut them up today. Our friend has an open fire so he's having the wood. The chainsaw conked out before we'd finished so the trunk is lying on neighbour's lawn, there's no chance of anyone lifting it in one piece.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Everyone was traipsing through the house all day, you should see the state of the floors in the hall and kitchen. It looks like we've decided to lay a bark path from the front door to the back door :D Before they started work yesterday, master tru decided to clean his van out so every single bit of his kit (and there's A LOT) is piled up in the hall. I have to get it cleaned up, it's driving me mad.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Today will involve lots of hoovering, tea-making and for my dad, lots of toast. He loves toast :D I might make them a huge fry-up for lunch, but only if they work tidily :rotfl:

    Morning All

It's not raining! In fact I think it's going to be a lovely day so I have stripped my bed already. Will put it out in a minute.

Busy weekend, went to friends for dinner on Friday, went swimming on Sat and Sun morning, cleaned, tidied and shopped a bit. Bought some small trees in pots for the front drive and some hanging baskets that I need to plant up at some point, I think it's too early for them yet.

DS2 should be home at some point today, he's never been to this house and I feel a little nervous in case he thinks I have done the wrong thing! Anyway, I like this house and I have spent too much on the roof to move so don't really know why I am worried. Seems strange that DD and I are all settled in and he hasn't even been here. I'm sure he will keep me entertained with all his stories from travelling.

Ate out yesterday (had fish and chips from W/spoons) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will look in the freezer for inspiration today.

Hope you all have a good week, hugs to the poorlies, take care. XX
  • Good morning everyone :)

Looks like being a lovely day here so already have some washing in the machine.

Back garden looks considerably tidier after a good weeding. Need to wash the patio flags and tackle the front now. May go and buy some plants today and that will force me into doing it. The M shop had lots of large herb pots and I have a money off voucher so I may get some of those.

Lamb chops and Greek salad for dinner.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Hi everyone,

We had a busy weekend (well DH mostly). He was helping DS put doors into the wall they built. I say helping but really he's passing on his DIY skills because DS wants to learn how to do things. I'm very lucky because DH can turn his hand to almost anything and is a real perfectionist so things get done really well.

I've also got a bust three days before we go to Yorkshire on Wednesday evening, so today I shall be giving the kitchen a good going over and cleaning round upstairs. I also want to go through mum's paperwork because I have a form from DWP to fill in to check she wasn't overpaid benefits.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all
We were up early as hubby had a Dr's appointment, we were extra early as the appointment is tomorrow!
DD visited y'day we had a cuppa & watched the bump move, 7 weeks to go according to the latest scan.
We are using our bus passes later to go into town, do a bit of shopping & then have lunch, Ham, egg & chips, £2.49 including a drink, can't be bad. I will go to Primarni to get DGS a school bag & to Lakeland as I have a £20 voucher to spend.
Get well soon Molly & JackieO
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all,

what a beautiful day its going to be.

    Lots to do today.

Laundry (5 loads - I was anal enough to count them)
    [strike]Vacuum upstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Dust upstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Vacuum stairs[/strike]
    [strike]Kitchen floor[/strike]
    [strike]Vacuum downstairs[/strike]
Bathroom (looks like a bomb has gone off in there)
[strike]Tea will be lamb as ive used up all the gammon (glory be!)[/strike]
[strike]Hair (see if I can strip some more of the colour out. I'm on the 7th box of remover)[/strike] A vast improvement but will need another box.

I can see problems brewing.... although hubby hasn't said as much and I'm pretty sure SIL to be hasn't said anything to our daughter either. I don't think either of them like each other very much. They are very polite and amiable to eachother but the body language SIL to be gives off and the odd comment hubby drops out has bought me to this conclusion. If I'm right, this is my husband and my Mother all over again (and me and my daughter will be stuck in the middle of it). Oh deep joy!

Ps I do wish MSE would stop putting extra spaces in between paragraphs, it takes me as long to alter the space in between paragraphs as it does to write the post. Rant over!

    Onwards and forwards,
    have a great day all!
