Old style daily Sunday 13th April

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

I'm up early as had to take youngest DS to work.
Hubby and I are having a quick toast and then we are off to collect my son and gf as we are off out to Sunday lunch. They are going to Miami for their hols on Thursday so it will be nice to catch up before they go.
Our friends enjoyed their curry last night and the Ww fridge cake was lovely.

  • Morning everyone !
Took a couple of minutes today just to listen to the birds singing their heads off .
    Nice and simple.
So today , going to get in the garden , plant some sad lobelia that were reduced at LDL , they just need some water and feed , tidy bedrooms .
Payday Tuesday so, at some point do a freezer check before I plan for the week.
Life's okay bit quiet but okay .
I live alone , haven't met my Prince Charming as yet , bit lonely ,scared of getting selfish with my time though .
Going on holiday in July 1st holiday in 20years ... Family are going to Cyprus for a wedding .
Will try and get to the gym as well.
What ever you do today make sure you enjoy the sunshine

  • Good morning all,

We have had breakfast, 1 load of washing out, just watching repeat of Gardeners world and then a quick visit to DD1.

The weather looks as though it is going to be good today so want to spend time in the garden. We have a small rose bed which badly needs weeding so will do that when we come home. We have quite a long back garden so it does take some work to keep it tidy. The camellia is looking beautiful at the moment, although we never actually do anything to it.

Chicken for lunch today (DH says he will look like one soon).

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Thanks for starting the thread Julie, you did it perfectly :T

whichwhydoIturn - I love rescuing sad reduced plants too

Nice weather here so lots of washing and weeding planned, the gardens are a mess. A bit of sun and the weeds all appear and cover everything! I want to scrub the patio flags too, they are very mossy.

Cinnamon chicken and some sort of salad for dinner.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning, though it's almost afternoon.

Overcast here but no rain yet. Have washed dishes and replenished the bird feeders. OH set up the CCTV camera and pointed it at the feeding station and it's lovely to sit and watch from a distance.

Car stuffed with the empty packing cases which I'm passing on to a colleague.

Making new discs for the car 😄 after five months with the same two I was getting bored.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

    Morning everyone,

TTFTM Cinnamon chicken sounds good, could you post the recipe please?

JackieO and Molly Lots of healing vibes.

LW Hope that you are feeling a bit better today.

    whichwaydoiturn Welcome.

Been to early service at church for Palm Sunday and now I am cooking a duck for lunch (YS from M/S).
OH and I are going to a quiz at a local pub tonight with two other couples. It is £3.50 each and includes a light supper, sounds great.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning all

Just making bread to go with Italian style dinner tonight and pottering in garden. Neighbour gave us some lovely pottery balls in muted shades for the garden, so will give them a wash and place artistically!! They were going to take them to the tip, what a shame.

Fruits of the forest ice cream made for pud.

Lovely day for drying washing down here at the seaside, might have walk along the prom later.

Hugs to all, healing vibes to JackieO and Molly, all the best for a speedy recovery to you both

    Cinnamon Spiced Lemon Chicken
    Serves 4

8 Chicken thighs - bone in with skin
    salt & pepper
    1 tsp ground cinnnamon
    1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp sweet or hot paprika ( I use smoked paprika or chipotle paste)
    60 mL lemon juice
    2 tbs olive oil
2 tbs butter, cut into small pieces

Heat oven to 200°C/400°F or gas mark 6

Slash chicken thighs once or twice down each side, place in large heat proof dish, in single layer and season.

In small bowl, mix cinnamon, cumin, paprika, olive oil and lemon juice. Add to chicken and mix, pushing paste into cuts etc. Leave to marinade if you have time

Dot chicken thighs with butter and bake for 30 mins, basting occasionally with butter/marinade mixture.

Remove from oven and heat grill, grill chicken 10-15cm from the heat until golden brown. Serve with pan juices.

It's very good with couscous or tabbouleh or little garlic roasted potatoes :)
