This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning TTFTM and all who cross or follow,
Can someone combine the threads please:)
I'm up early as dh had to be at his first job for eight.
Also my wonderful DIL has sent me a video of our gorgeous granddaughter trying her best to walk. Her daddy was eight and half months:eek: she's seven months so not long now.
I'm planning a quiet day. My Trigeminal Neuralgia is bad today. My face was on fire during the night, I look like I've been slapped, so the less changes of temperature the better. Hopefully this flare up won't last long.
I really need a visit to the doc but need to get myself motivated.
It's also my SIL birthday in Australia today so many happy wishes to her. I can't wait for their visit in June.
The bathroom is looking fab. I shall post pics when it's finished.
Glad to see your home Molly, hope you had a peaceful night Hun x

Morning :hello:

My job search is annoying. I just want a plain and simple job with regular hours. Zero-hour contracts are no good to me, neither are ever-changing shifts. And I would like the results to reflect what I search for – office or retail in Glos. How the £$%& do I end up with suggestions like Orthopaedic Surgeon in Glasgow? OK that one didn't actually pop up, but you get my drift. I joined a FB jobs page and this popped up this morning - Supplier Relatonship Manager. What's one of those? Sounds like they're advertising for a pimp
I'm not going to think about jobs for the rest of the week. I'm going to look after my leeks that I repotted yesterday and are looking pathetically weak, plant things in the greenhouse and look after my poorly chicken. First though, I'm going to get dressed and go round the shop. The three other trus all went out yesterday and not one of them bought any milk even though they knew we were running out. So I have to go, even though that's the only reason I'm leaving the house. All three are out again today but they'll still forget. *grumbles

Morning All
Tru - you're right, those job sites don't understand location. Come to think of it neither does Gumtr££, found a lovely mirror that would look good in DDs room at a bargain price. The search was within 15 miles of Glasgow and it turned out that this one was in Dumfries! Needless to say I didn't go for it.
We have had glorious weather here the last couple of days and today looks to be the same. Anything not nailed down has been washed, including DS2s rather grotty bag full of clothes that he has been carrying around Asia for the past 6 months. It's lovely to see him but I think his bag has exploded all over the house!.
He likes the house which is good and even nodded that his room was ok, don't expect much from a 25 year old who has just spent 6 months in various hostels, etc, I think a bed in the garden would have done!
Anyway, the scaffolding is down and the roof is looking good, skip going today and then I can pressure wash the front drive (monobloc). Could take a while. I have a chimney sweep coming today as crows were trying to nest in the chimney and I have a gas fire so don't want the flue to be blocked. The crows then started to next in an open bit of the gable over the weekend but that has all been sealed now. Wonder where they will try next.
Anyway, need to get moving and feed the neighbours rabbits as they are away, their budgie is chirping away in the front room!
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
I was up early, made us a cuppa & went back to bed for a cuddle.
I cut 2 dresses out y'day & woke up in a panic as I hadn't folded the right sides together, a rookie mistake, then I remembered why, the fabric is reversible.
DGS is coming over at 10ish to help hubby jet wash the decking and path, I bet they will both need a change of clothes afterwards!
I'm making beef & mushroom casserole for tea with mash & veg, I'll lob it in the slowcooker in a sec.
Right, time I fed the fish they are glaring at me from the tank.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone,
Lots of baking on the cards today. I've decided to go small - raspberry and white choc muffins, millionaires shortbread, trying the carrot cake recipe as cup-cakes and maybe some brownies. I also bought two cauli's for 69p each in Aldi yesterday so I shall be turning them into cauliflower cheese.
Then I want to dust an vac the front room and hall, clear the sewing room and pack and we'll be ready for Yorkshire, yippee.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning all,
trying to forget today best I can, the same as ive done for the last 33 years. My eldest daughter would have been 34 today. Fortunately I only remember the day of her birth, the day of her death usually passes me by without me realizing.
Hubby and I are at war over a conifer tree.
Washer is on, our bed is stripped and linen is in the washer as I type. 'Youngest' is still in bed so I cant wash his linen just yet.
I've got some flour I want to use up so ive made some pancake batter for later.
Not much else to add really so....
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
