O/S Daily for Tuesday 15th April
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Good morning :D
everyone is still in bed and my back and hips are aching (again) so I've got up rather than keep fidgeting in discomfort. Kinda nice just having the early morning sunshine, a coffee and peace and quiet.
Yesterday was manic with the four kids playing together but was so nice to see. They don't see their cousins as often and that isn't going to get better now we've moved away :(
Hubby's car is finally back and fixed. Cost £500 for the service and repairs :( and it needs another £219 +vat of work doing it it  Am heartily sick of things with four wheels at the moment. What with cars, kids shoes etc it's been one expensive month. Even hubby was saying we need to tighten our belts and he NEVER says that  Kids desperately need new clothes, DD especially is shooting up like a weed! And stuff I bought a few months ago doesn't fit her.
Fortunately a couple of her summer dresses still fit from last year, I've got fabric to make her a couple of skirts and my mum is going to make her a couple of dresses so hopefully that should take the sting about it her new wardrobe a little. DS just needs some new t shirts and shorts.

Off to Adl* today after dog walk. Sure DS will kick off at that but we are all out of the cheese that he lives on and he will only eat their cheese so shopping it is. Will try and have a chill out afternoon.

No idea about tea. Will decide that later.

    I've waffled on long enough.
Hugs and spoons all round xxxx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, brilliant blue sky, sun shining, no cloud, but we’ve had a frost. Washing on the line.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was the frozen pork joint, new potatoes, veg and gravy. I got that in the oven as soon as I got in from work, quickly prepped the veg and then went to take dad’s birthday prezzie and card so he had them for today – as it’s likely they will go out for the day and out for dinner tonight. We’ll be having something easy tonight – fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I must remember to get meat out tonight to defrost for tomorrow night’s dinner.

Yesterday work was busy but for a Monday was a slow start then was horrendous for a while – not sure what today will bring. I’m certainly looking forward to the long weekend, although I’m working Saturday morning – not too bothered about it though, all the little extra’s helps! Hoping that as we’re shut on Friday and Monday most people will automatically assume we’re shut Saturday too!

Had a bit of luck on the online gaming again with a win last night – waiting for the winnings to hit the bank account – again not much but nice all the same!

I’m thinking I may do an online food shop for this week – I will check this out tonight and put an order in – but possibly all the available slots may be gone – if so I’ll have to brave the SM and go and do the shop! I’m thinking I’d like to make an Easter Cake – I think it will be chocolate sponge, filled with chocolate butter icing, then butter icing on top – and decorated with choc buttons, mini easter eggs, and chocolate fingers all the edges – will be really sweet but something a bit different – have the picture of what I want it to look like in my head – whether that’s how it will look is a different matter! I will need to do this on Thursday/Friday.

    Keep safe and well x

    Hi everyone,

An early post from me, the phone has been ringing every few minutes since 7.00 but it's just an electronic modem sound and of course no number to ring and complain.

The kitchen is gleaming after yesterday, literally, because I even polished the granite worktops with the very expensive Lakeland product that gets used once every blue moon. It's brilliant but I use it sparingly. I keep going in there just to admire it.

More cleaning today and I want to make a batch of celeriac and apple soup.

Can I have some good vibes for DD's Bf who has been having a difficult time at work. It looks like a big deal he's been jumping through hoops for the last couple of months is at last about to come good. It would make our Easter weekend much happier.

Bitsy, it's horrible when cars start to go wrong isn't it. We have an old Picasso which has served us well and when we decided to get a new(er) car in January (the same model as you've just got) we kept it for DD to borrow. Since then we've had to replace the clutch, a tyre and the workings of the fan so I hope nothing else goes on it.

Best wishes Jackie O and Mollie, I hope the recoveries are going to plan.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all,

Bright and sunny here, bit chilly though. The heating actually kicked in this morning.
WM is on, hoping to get all those bits and pieces washed that never seem to make the machine today.
I want to take DS2 to the Connexions place today and get him to chat to an advisor about Apprenticeships. He seems a little demotivated at the moment, expected I suppose, but I don't want him to lose momentum.
Chopped some veg last night and am going to make some Picallili later.

Not sure what's for dinner yet.

    Happy Tuesday all :)

    Morning everyone,

Busiscoming2 Very belated birthday wishes, sorry that I missed it earlier.

Snoozer Hope that things go well for your DD's bf.

    Molly, JackieO Get well vibes.

Bitsy Cars are like bottomless pits when it comes to money!

    LW How are your wrists?

DD1 and I had a lovely day out yesterday but no luck in finding a prom dress, she tried on loads of dresses and as far as I was concerned looked lovely in all of them but she didn't think that any of them were right. She came home and started looking on the internet!

Well the sun is out here so I better get on with pegging out the washing.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Good morning everyone :)

Another lovely day and I have run out of things to wash and dry. Was tempted to take off the thick duvet and wash that to put away but it's actually chilly of a night time, so think I will leave that for a couple of weeks.

Never got my plants yesterday so am going to try and do that today but need to go to the tip to empty out all the old compost which is now in a rubble sack. DH will definitely be doing that job!

Ebay pile is getting bigger but still not doing any listing, I really do need that kick up the backside. For any other ebayers, have you seen the new notification that from May, there are 20 free listings each month with any start price or for buy it nows? I can't work out if this replaces the current 99p starts and free listing weekends or is in addition to it.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all,
desperately need new clothes, DD especially is shooting up like a weed! And stuff I bought a few months ago doesn't fit her.

Oh I was so fortunate when my lot where little. They never outgrew anything. One set of school uniform would last them a year and ive known a pair of school shoes last 12 months too. We aren't very tall in this house and growing fast was never an issue. I think my eldest 'child' is 5ft 10 and he didn't really take off until he was in his late teens.

A little warning. My pc is playing up again. I had to press F8 to get my screen to load this morning. Its not got a virus and Windows has recently been loaded. I think my pc is about 7 years old its had its day. Anyway, just to say if I drop off the site, ive not abandoned you, my pc will have died.

Not doing a lot today, just the vacuuming and tea I think. Me and 'Youngest' will be having chicken tikka I think. Hubby wont touch it so he'll have to have a chicken dinner.

Onwards and forwards (nice to see a bit of sun),
    Have a great day all,

Busiscoming, good luck with Connexions, when my DS went they just kept suggesting he signed on!
We've been to the Dr's he's recommended hubby buy something called Viscospot for his heels, so I'm looking online for those.
I've been for a walk & I'm going to blitz the bathrooms today once the washing is on the line, that should keep me busy. Hubby will be busy in the garden
I have something finishing on eBay today, I'm hoping to get enough money to make it worth all the effort.
Hugs to Molly & JackieO, waves to LW.
    Have a good day everyone.

Quiet morning as dds are at work apart from youngest who had gone to hairdresser this morning and asked for my pizza whirls to take later to friends birthday tea.

BM is making pizza dough and soup is on the hob for lunch.

DH went to hospital for check up and now has steroid drops to use on his eyes as well as the ointment and the hourly drops. I seem to be constantly trying to catch him to put drops in.

Weighed myself and have lost three pounds this week - as scales have been up a pound, down a pound or stayed the same for weeks I am really pleased.

Meeting DD's fiance's relatives at the weekend and staying in Oxford for a couple of days so not expecting weight loss for the next week or so.

Hope Molly and JackieO are getting better fast and hugs to all.

    Morning all,

Hugs for Molly and JackieO and positive vibes for Snoozers daughters BF x
It's lovely here, just about to put some washing on the line before I nip out with dh. We are about to buy the flooring and tiles for the bathroom, hopefully as cheap as possible. I am hoping its more or less done for the weekend.
My new car is in the garage. Someone backed into me in the car park so it's being repaired and I have a courtesy car. It's horrendous to drive and filthy. I've rung and given them a piece of my mind, but I should have my car back Thursday so I just won't drive it.
Bitsy I know what you mean. All my boys are tall and were so hard their clothes, only my girl is little like me. My eldest boy is 6 ft 2 I swear he needed new school shoes every month at one stage:eek:
Better get a wriggle on, bfn x
