Hi, I am really fed up of wasting money on cleaning products and things for the home that don't work. I've bought spray cleaners, polishes, mildew cleaners, microwave cleaners, floor cleaners, different wipes, a special sponge for removing cat fur off the furniture, nothing really works.

With so many products on offer I'm not sure the old methods are necessarily cheaper but you have:

I wouldn't be very happy at all if I'd bought those things and they didn't work  Is it worth contacting the manufacturer? Don't all things say "if you are not happy with our product" etc
I use Sainsburys lavender furniture polish as I like the smellbut I'm sure a plain duster would work just as well and definitely money saving once you have bought the duster. I personally get on well with microfibre clothes. I find they tend to 'pick up' the dust rather than just moving it about - I guess it depends on how much dust you have though
For spray type cleaners I use Zoflora which comes in a bottle which you dilute. The instructions say a cap full to 400 mls. The bottle is about a £1 in the first place. So this seems good value. No idea whether it actually works any better than hot waterprobably not and if you always have hot water anyway then this wouldn't cost any more.
I use Aldi's Almat washing powder and their washing up liquid. This must work as the clothes don't stink and the plates are clean.
I've never bought a microwave cleaner, so no idea on those I just use the dish cloth.
I do use a rubber brush for picking up hair and bits off the floor. I bought this from Lakeland. Not the cheapest of places I know but if you don't want false economy which of course is not money saving then I doubt you would find fault with one of these.
Mould and mildew just tends to happen, I've found. No matter what you do. Its just one of those things that you have to keep on top off. We always get it in our bathroom window recess, yet the window is open as soon as we get up and closed when we get home from work at night every weekday of the year.
