Soft goat's cheese
Hi OSers :) I am planning to make a goat's cheese tart on Sunday but have never bought goat's cheese before. The recipe says "soft goat's cheese". Do I need to look for any particular kind or will any goat's cheese do? Also, the recipe says to add cherry tomatoes and olives. Neither me nor my DH eat olives so I was going…

Getting a stain out of white silk?
I have a white silk blind in the family bathroom. Somehow a yellow stain has appeared, which I've tried to remove with a very dilute solution of biological washing powder. It's spread the stain. :( Any magic anybody can suggest to get it clean again? It's a roman blind so I can't put it in the machine. :(

How to find the time...
I am seriously struggling to fit everything in. How do those who work full time with children fit in cooking a from scratch meal, cleaning the house, washing and fitting time in to read/play with the children. As I look round my house I feel disgusted, cobwebs sit in corners, skirting boards and doors could do with a good…

It is all falling apart...
Well most of my wardrobe and house! This week I pulled the sole off my work boots, so the sole now flaps around at the back, my other pair have started to come apart around the toes and it was a bit soggy in the rain today. My ballet pumps have split at the heel, to top it all, just noticed my leggings have split at the…

Gammon steaks advice please?
Hoping for some ideas if possible! I have two gammon steaks out of the freezer for dinner. They are Waitrose 'just cook' ones and come with a pineapple salsa although OH won't like that (I only bought them as they were vastly reduced!) I was planning to serve them with potatoes and vegetables. I SOOOOO don't fancy that…

Rubber Gloves?
A bit random, but looking for recommendations for washing up gloves please. Normally I just wash up without gloves, but I'm finding my hands get really dry and sore (and I've tried several types of washing up liquid). I've used gloves in the past because of this, but I'm clumsy at the best of times and usually drop half…

Is sugar really necessary in a tomato based sauce?
Lots of recipes seem to have sugar in tomato based sauces. What would be the effect of omitting it? My little book from The Works - Sauces, 100 Everyday Recipes £1.99 is my source for the question but I have seen sugar in other Tomato based recipes too.
