A bit random, but looking for recommendations for washing up gloves please. Normally I just wash up without gloves, but I'm finding my hands get really dry and sore (and I've tried several types of washing up liquid). I've used gloves in the past because of this, but I'm clumsy at the best of times and usually drop half the stuff because I can't grip it properly with gloves on!

    Hi LizD,

I use washing up gloves since I have very sensitive skin and I like the water as hot as possible. I haven't found any great brands--in fact, I tend to go with the ones in Aldi or the ones in my local pound shop--they're usually a bit thinner than Marig*lds, but I find in the long run they last about as long. For the gripping issue, I find it helps if I get the right size--the larger ones tend to make it harder for me to grip--although they are still slippery!

M@rigolds every time. I have tried others but none seem to fit as well or last as long.

Can I butt in on this please? Does anyone know where I can get cheap/reasonable rubber gloves that don't have the flock lining in them? It seems to be getting harder and harder to find gloves without this lining, but it irritates my hands so I need to use ones without it.

I always use Marigolds. I've tried cheaper gloves, but they're thinner and get holes in them quicker, also, I've found the grip isn't very good on the cheaper ones.

If you buy a larger size then what you can do is put hand cream on your hands, put cotton gloves over the top and them put your hands in the rubber gloves.

The had cream will moisturise and barrier your hands, the cotton will protect between the skin and the glove itself. It does work a treat.

I have both marigolds and some from Wilkinsons. The pink ones in Wlikos are not too bad they also do a heavy duty black pair which I use for gardening and stuff in the garage.

After mine have started to leak I put them out into the garage and use them for gardening, clenaing the cars, and polishing brass/silver etc and also for polishing my boots. I make sure I get my moneys worth out of my gloves HTH :)

Another vote for M@rigolds - cheaper brands get holes in sooner and don't last as long.

I use marigolds as well. Its one of the few brands which I do spend a bit more on as they are worth it.

As a cook ( and washer upper) in a very busy bar/restaurant I have to recommend these

Not cheap, but on 342 they were a bargain, ESP as so far one pair has lasted four really busy weeks so far

They do dry stiff but soften again in hot water, and these babies take scalding water in their stride

I think BusyBee do gloves for sensitive hands without this lining. I find BusyBee gloves to be of really good quality and last longer than other brands, although I haven't tried the ones without the lining.

We've got the ones without lining from Waitrose, they're great :)
