Soft goat's cheese

Hi OSers
I am planning to make a goat's cheese tart on Sunday but have never bought goat's cheese before. The recipe says "soft goat's cheese". Do I need to look for any particular kind or will any goat's cheese do?
Also, the recipe says to add cherry tomatoes and olives. Neither me nor my DH eat olives so I was going to replace them with broccoli. Is there anything else I could add instead of black olives?

Any soft goats cheese will do (not the hard block cheese), some are drier or creamy than others but that is a personal preference.
I find the small rounds are often nicer than the bigger ones.
Recipes are guides so just add or omit the things you want.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Most goat's cheeses are soft but if you're in doubt look for some that looks a bit like cream cheese in the packaging. I can heartily recommend Lidl's which is utterly delish.
Personally, I wouldn't be adding broccoli in place of the olives: too watery. Got any anchovies or capers?0 -
My husband/daughter are making me goats cheese and red onion tart on Sunday. We use the small logs for tarts.
I dont think broccoli would work but sweet peppers would be nice with the tomatoes.0 -
I would add lightly steamed leeks. Or rocket. Or spinach. Or watercress. Or cooked beetroot.
The broccoli could work very well as long as it's not soggy.
And I would also think about a little red chilli.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Thanks for your replies. I'm not a fan of anchovies or capers but sweet peppers sounds like my kind of thing!0
