Have just completed my meal plan so thought I would start us off. Am really struggling for inspiration on the meal planning at the moment which is showing in the meals I have planned for this week but am sticking to the budget so not all bad.
Saturday - Meatballs and Spaghetti
Sunday - Chicken and Gammon pasta
Monday - Chicken Noodle Soup
Tuesday - Steak & Ribs with Veg Rice, Salad and HM coleslaw (Chicken Kiev for me)
Wednesday - Fish Fingers / Scampi, Chips and Beans
Thursday - Pasta Bolognaise
Friday - Veg Soup with Ravioli and Garlic Bread
Breakfasts will be cereal, toast, cereal bars and porridge
Lunches will be leftovers, sandwiches and wraps
We have a charity baking day at work on Thursday and Friday so need to make some things for that just need to decide on what to make as usually we do savoury as well as sweet things. I have a tin of corned beef in the cupboard and some pastry in the freezer so think I may make some corned beef and potato pie.

Thanks for starting us off, Tealady. I'm also struggling for inspiration this week, and am under doctor's orders to stay off my feet as much as possible, so there's quite a lot of ready made stuff this week:
Friday - out with work colleagues - we're going to a French restaurant, which is a cuisine I'm not very familiar with, so I have no idea what I'll end up eating
Saturday - refried bean burritos
Sunday - RM meatloaf and veg of some sort - I've got a kohlrabi sitting in the fridge so I'll try to think of something to do with that
Monday - sausage casserole
Tuesday - Thai steak curry and rice
Wednesday - chicken kiev, baked beans and potato rostis
Thursday - sausage and tomato pastaBack after a very long break!0 -
Hi everyone and thanks for getting us started:A.
We have had to do a major restock this month as we have been running things down since Christmas. I have meal planned until pay day and have done two big shops using Aldi vouchers and did an AF order. Consequence - well stocked with most of budget gone:eek:
In theory this should get us through this month on budget and provide ongoing stocks for several months. We'll have to wait and see
Sat - Hm burgers, bread rolls, wedges and salad.
Sun - Chicken fried rice
Mon Spag Bol and garlic bread
Tues - Pasta bake and salad
Wed - Curry, rice and naan
Thurs - Chicken chowmein
Fri - Meatballs, tom sauce and spaghetti
Breakfast will be cereal, toast or crumpets. Lunches will be left overs, sandwiches or HM soup. Will be baking tomorrow so jam crumblie, coffee cake and chocolate chip cookies will do for snacks and lunch boxes.
Have a lovely week everyone

We haven't been very good at sticking to meal plans lately. But have been making sure nothing goes to waste by freezing etc. and sticking to my shopping budget each week so making progress. Mostly I end up feeding the kids something healthy and then having a bowl of cereal once they are in bed!
I have been reducing the amount of yeast and wheat in our diets starting with dinner but I find it slow going trying to get used to the change and think up new ideas from the usual pasta/tortillas/breads etc.
Meal Plan
Saturday 9th March - Homemade Yeast Free Pizza
Sunday 10th - Beef Stew with plenty of veggies and potatoes
Monday 11th - Grilled pork skewers in HM marinade with peppers and onion
Tuesday 12th - Chicken & Veg Curry, Naan Bread, Rice
Wednesday 13th - Pork Ribs in HM marinade, Rice, Veggies
Thursday 14th - Chilli Con Carne & HM wedges
Friday 15th - Paleo Chicken Fajitas (chicken fried in olive oil and HM marinade, peppers and onion then wrapped up in lettuce and served with salsa dip or wrapped up in bacon and baked for 10 mins - delicious!!)
Saturday 16th - Omelettes & HM wedges
Sunday 17th - Sunday Roast - chicken, HM garlic & herb roasties, HM yorkshire puddings, roasted carrot, onion, peppers and parsnip
That's the plan anyway, wish me luck! I might make HM burgers with the mince instead of the chilli con carne but everytime I try they are such a disaster!Debt December 2012 - Approx £4070...
February 2013 £2784.640 -
I've just done my food shop so I'm all prepared for the next week.
Saturday katsu chicken with egg fried rice and mange tout
sunday going out to my mums for a roast
Monday braised steak casserole with root veg.
Tuesday sausage and fennel tagliatelle
Wednesday HM pasty with mash and broccoli
Thursday creamy bacon and spinach pasta
Friday take away night
These are all new recipes for me, going to be an interesting week.0 -
Thank you for a great, inspiring thread, this is my first time posting, we have very little cash to see us through until the 18th, so I have taken the plunge and meal planned, properly for the first time
, shopping list is written for all the bits I need and will head off to Lidl in the morning :money:
Saturday Faggots from the freezer with new spuds and veg
Sunday Chicken roast, with mash (will make extra for potato cakes for brekkies and lunches in the week)
Monday Chicken fried rice using a left over breast from Sunday
Tuesday Chicken and sweetcorn pie using the remains of the chicken and making my own pastry  just need to figure out what to cook it in, don't own a pie dish........
Wednesday Bacon and pea baked risotto
Thursday Home made pizza's
Friday Mango chicken and rice bake
Saturday Sausage and mash or cheese toasties with soup
I'm also planning on the following bakes, so that I don't have to buy cereal bars or lunchbox/after dinner treats for the kiddies:
Banana nut muffins, nutty oak breakfast squares
savoury cheese swirls, mint sandwich cookies with white choc ganache, chocolate button biscuits and some fairy cakes0 -
The plan for this week is (supposedly....)
su-roast chicken legs, spuds, carrots, cabbage & gravy
mo-tom yum soup
tu-fishcakes, salad & carrots
we-(veggie, or guinea fowl) stroganoff with mafalde pasta, salad
th-lemon sole, vegetables, some spuds
fr-i'm out, OH can fend for self, or have ready meal
sa-friends for tea, maybe a roast dinner, maybe stew, not sure
su-either leftover roast or a roast0 -
sketchingkari - for pies I sometimes just put pastry on the top so any deep sided tray or dish will do. HTH. Please can you post your recipe for nutty oat breakfast squares as I am spending a fortune on cereal bars. Thank you0

I'm making the bars tomorrow, once I know if it works I will post itMine get through tons and they are so unhealthy (and expensive), these ones use grated apple, banana and peanut butter with syrup to bind together oats, nuts and seeds and a bit of dried fruit, so they should be healthy and cheap, fingers crossed :money:

Another request for one of your recipes please - mint sandwich cookies?
I'll post our meal plan tomorrow, as my 13yo is going to write it, so who knows what we will be having. My youngest DS is in France for the week with school, so my other DS gets to choose the meals for the week. DS will be 14 on tuesday so I know that we are eating out at least once!
2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
