Max Factor Lipfinity extraction
I know I am clutching at straws slightly but thought I would ask. I own some Max Factor Lipfinity's. http://www.boots.com/en/Max-Factor-Lipfinity_5807/ There seems to be loads left in the tube but the applicator can't reach the very top or bottom. How can I get to these bits without sawing it open. I didn't know if putting…

Bunka embroidery
I thought I'd have a go at punch needle embroidery but when I looked on utube I saw Bunka which is similar in theory with a punch tool but worked on the right side of the material. What I can't find out is if you use the same punch tool or some kind of different one to be able to do the long stitches aNd them stay in the…

Home cooking - Is it cheaper?
As I'm on Maternity Leave, and my little one is 4 months old and will be weaned in a few months, I want to get in the habit of home cooking. However - Every recipe i've looked at has a million herbs, which average out at about £1.50 a small jar in Tesco. Is it really cheaper? The type of meals I want to make is: Bolognese…

Has anyone knitted an Aran bobble hat?
Not really sure where to put this, hopefully someone on here can answer. I want to knit an adult (ladies) bobble hat with a turn back cuff/brim. I have some aran wool and found a free pattern on the 'net which said to use 5mm needles and 65 stitches, knitted in Fisherman's Rib, and that the hat would fit 41-61cm head…

Do I need a new mattress?
Hi, I'm on a really low budget :( and need to know if I need to replace my mattress. It's not uncomfortable but if you move on it the springs make a lot of noise. I've only just discovered it to be a problem  because when I'm alone I sleep like a baby and don't move a muscle but my boyfriend has started to stay for…

Keeping pastry items nice and fresh
Does anyone know the best way of keeping pastry items nice and fresh? I mean things like home made sausage rolls. I have tried plastic boxes and metal tins but they seem to go soft in both. Thanks in advance.

Getting through the austerity in an Old Style, practical way.
So we have the 'supporting each other through very tough times' thread. A thread that is such a support emotionally in these times. It's a place we go to let off steam, to share our woes, to talk about the awful things that are happening nationally and even to ourselves. I wondered if it would be ok to have a chat thread…

Go out and have another look 10 mins later and the top has sunk down with another hour to cook. Any ideas? It IS rising but there must be a reason for it dropping. Can…

Parboil potatoes in advance - how to store?
Thinking ahead to Christmas dinner, I know that you can peel and chop potatoes the day before and store them in cold water. I read somewhere though that you can also do the parboiling the day before. How would you then store them overnight? In water? In the fridge? This would be a big help as then I could just chuck them…
