Bunka embroidery

I thought I'd have a go at punch needle embroidery but when I looked on utube I saw Bunka which is similar in theory with a punch tool but worked on the right side of the material. What I can't find out is if you use the same punch tool or some kind of different one to be able to do the long stitches aNd them stay in the fabric.
Anyone do this sort of embroidery and has some tips. XxPoo
