Cost or conscience?
Hello all :) Just wanted to hear other people's thoughts on this, its something i've been pondering over a little while. Our monthly food budget is £300, this includes DD2's nappies & wipes. I do a big online shop at the beginning of the month for all the tinned/dried/bottled goods plus toiletries and cleaning stuff. This…

Has anyone heard of 'energy free days'?
I was on Freegle ages ago and someone asked for board games as they and their children were going to start having 'energy free Sundays' using no gas or electric whatsoever. I was just wondering if anyone else had tried this and is it as difficult as it sounds? I realise it could get a bit boring, as there's no T.V etc. I…

Ugg boot tops? What can I make???
Hi all I have finally relegated a pair of ugg style boots (they are Sketcher ones) to slippers by cutting off the 'legs' off the boots. However I am left with these 2 legs which are not in too bad condition, the suede is ok, so is the furry inside and I cannot think what I can make with them? Seems a shame to chuck 'em…

What's the easiest way to clean a crockpot?
Hi all Does anyone have a low-elbow-grease method for cleaning the crockpot of a slow cooker, please? I've searched the mega index but its not there. I've always soaked it for several hours in water with fairy liquid, but it still needs some good elbow grease to get it clean and I'm struggling with health issues at the…

Cajun Chicken Strips
I found this recipe yesterday via Pinterest and tried it last night. They were really tasty and not too spicy, I used garlic powder instead of the garlic granules stated in the recipe and it was fine. It lists 1 tsp of poultry seasoning, I crushed a chicken oxo cube and filled a tsp with that (one cube is about 2 tsps).…

Preserving Starter Kits at Sainsbobs
I've just nipped to my local Sainsburys and I noticed that they had Kilner Preserving Starter Kits for a fiver, think they were down from £18. Not for me but I thought it might be a good cheap way to get budding jam makers started! I didn't look too closely but I think the kit came with a jam making colander, a few jars,…
