Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 25th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning :hello:
My body is finally responding to my careful food choices, still like my choc though and I’m not apologising for it
My cold has almost gone. There’s no pain in my toe, it’s gone numb. The bruise has spread but it’s changed colour from dark purple to a fetching shade of lilac
I got out of bed carefully this morning but there was no pain in either leg.
So with no pain, being awake at 5am and the lovely coolness of early morning, I’ve got stuck in. I’ve boiled 12 eggs for snacks, sorted and dated more eggs to sell, cleaned the kitchen and put the washing on (almost done, will hang it out in a mo). The food cupboard has been cleaned and sorted, and I’ve re-potted the basil, sage and coriander. I think I’ve killed the coriander, I don’t care because I don’t like it, but mr tru won’t be happy
I need to re-pot my two remaining strawberry plants, which look really strong and healthy but have decided not to grow any fruit.

Morning Tru and all to follow,
Another glorious day here, I could get used to this
Went to see dad yesterday, and he seemed much better, ate all the sandwich I had made him, as well as sausage, mash 2 veg a cheesecake and a yoghurt:D
got his appetite back as least.
Off to work for me, will ask dd to clean lounge and kitchen, and hang a wash, dinner tonight will be chicken fried rice.
Need to make up some lunch for work, so better go and see what there is.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning tru and to those who cross/follow,
Tru, you have been busy.
I have wm on and one load on the line.
House is tidy so not much to do there as such. Ironing is still there. I was planning on getting it done yesterday but it got too hot so i didn't bother.
Jasper is having his having his coat cut today. He will be gone for getting on for two hours so i'll have time to go and get him some more food.
Tea tonight is pork chops, new potatoes and salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Sunny, warm and lots of blue sky, here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early. Have just put washing out on the line.
Work was relatively quiet yesterday, which was just as well as 3 colleagues went sick, so had we been really busy it would have been a complete nightmare! Will have to wait and see what today brings!
Dinner last night was roasted chicken breasts, hot new potatoes, salad, HM pasta salad and HM potato salad etc, was nice to have something that didn't take too long to organise as it was a late meal as hairdresser came to re-blond me and do hair cuts for all the menfolk - everyone now nice and tidy.
Only working until lunchtime today, then taking DS1 to meet his friend whom he is staying with tonight and then they are going off to next town tomorrow to get last minute bits for their hols. Spoke to friend in Scotland last night, looks like we're pretty much ready for our rally - all I need to do is organise the paperwork (I have already put it on to the computer - just a few bits need adjusting and someone else to proof read) then I will print it out and make up the packs. Have all the other normal chores to do - but need to get DS1 organised and packed for his hols first as he leaves on Friday afternoon, then I can concentrate on getting everything else done.
Remember the sun cream - it's really hot here again already!
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Good Morning everyone ,well yesterday I took the boys to the local County Park and Mikey nevr left my side hardly at all,he is ok but very quiet (for him).Today DD is off and we were going to go to Larkfield swimming baths but as the forecast is over 30c we thought it may be too hot and humid in there so we persuaded him that we will go to Joss Bay on the coast but he doesn't have to go into the water if he doesn't want to,but we will try to get him to go paddling a little bit.He insists no higher than his ankles bless him.
As Mum has the day off and I will be there as well we are hoping to get his confidence back gradually. Its a nice place and very safe with lots of sandy beach ,eveen if he only gets the water from the sea in his bucket for his sandcastle he will get used to being on the beach again. On Sunday night he was hysterical about going anywhere near the sea.As we are off on holiday in three weeks time to Sea Palling on the Norfolk coast we have got to try and get him to see that he will be safe, even just on the beach.
Right I am off to sort out the beach stuff for the car we take a small tent for the boys to sit in whilst they eat their picnic and I'll take the boogie boards so the older ones can splash around, it might tempt him a bit as he has a small one that he uses.Thank you for alal your kind wishes and thoughts for my little grandson. He really is a sweetie and full of charm
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Morning tru and everyone else
Bit overcast here still, but hope it stays dry, want to wash some bedding and maybe coats today.
I defrosted the kitchen freezer on Monday, threw away a few ancient items, so now I know what's in there plus the garage freezer, so one of today's jobs is some major meal planning. Need to do stocktake of cupboards and pantry to add to meal plans. We tend to eat up a lot of what's stored over the summer, then I re-stock from September ready for the winter. After reading a chunk of the stock cupboard thread I think I'm woefully behind a lot of people, though!
Hope to do some baking if it doesn't get too humid, so we've things for pack-ups (me for work, littlies for their packed lunches when they go to sister's or cousin's Thurs/Fri).
Last job today will have to be a trip to DIY shop, some part of the toilet's flushing mechanism has given up the ghost, so we're using a bucket of water to flush. Could be good practice for when/if the SHTF! :rotfl: Pardon the pun.
Have a good morning all, hugs and kisses to all in need.

Morning all!
I am feeling a bit more positive today.:)
Ankle is still green and blue, but I have decided to try and address the weight issue again. I have done it before, so I know I can do it. One step at a time.:T
Found a new way of eating in "The Times" which doesn'restrict what you eat, just changes it, so I am going to try that.
Sat on my deck all day yesterday, and really chilled out. Getting two windows replaced today. Last two in the house. Just neeed OH to paint the sofits on the garage and the garagaea door then all the outside is done.:T
Picked some beetroot yesterday, need to plant some more now. Have picked all the carrots too. Peas and beans are doing well too.
Not sure what to have for dinner, need to check the fridge!
Have a good day all.I Believe in saving money!!!:T
