Do you use the liquid in tinned veg?
Just wondering if and when people use the liquid in their tinned veg & beans etc. I've heard some people say it's full of flavour, but I always drain it away (excluding beans in tomato sauce) as I think it's just full of sugar & salt (and possibly other additives). Just wondering what everyone else does.

I have tried to replicate at home but can't seem to get the texture right, do I need to adapt the batter in some way to counteract the (lovely) oil in the chorizo . . Battered cod roe
I realise it's not to everyone's taste, but I was brought up on the stuff and I love it, but I only ever get it from the chippy. So my question is, if I buy a tin of pressed cod roe, how do I make batter and fry it? I've never made batter before. We don't have a deep fat fryer or a chip pan, could I shallow fry it in…

Electronic journalling
Hi, does anyone here use an electronic journal, by that I don't mean an online one, just a computer diary? I am considering doing this after years of using paper as I think it will be more private but I don't know if I could take to it the same. Plus I wouldn't know what to do with all my old paper journals.

Is it worth the outlay cost?
I have been tempted to try to make jam and to learn to make soft cheese. Is it worth the outlay cost? I know it would be fun and something interesting to learn but things like the pan and all the equipment are quite pricey. Plus there is buying the ingredients but, for the jam, I would hope to find some reduced in price…

Freezing and shelf lives
A while back, I bought some mince that was good for 7 days, and froze it on the day of purchase. I took it out to defrost on Wednesday, intending to make bolognese on Thursday, but other plans got in the way and it didn't happen. Does the original 7 day shelf life it had when I bought it still apply, or have I left it too…

Rooting jars/vases?
I've seen some absolutely adorable little rooting jars on a blog, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas about where you can get them from? I've tried a few google searches but no luck. This link should be to an image: http://www.teenytinykitchen.com/component/content/article/229 I'm guessing it's probably quite a retro…
