O/S Daily Tues 31 July

31/07/12 Daily Tuesday 31st July Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 31st July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Raining steadily here, started at some time in the night, looks like it's set in for the day! DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Telephone was busy last night with a mixture of calls for DH and myself - re last minute things for the rally - didn't get chance to get the paperwork printed out, but will get that done tonight. Seems there's lot's of people not happy with the situation DH has been forced into - we've now decided to not think about it too much and go off and enjoy our time away etc, we can't do anything constructive at this stage, so there may be some answers/solutions by the time we come back. Although I did tell DH last night that he should just resign immediately from his position and if those above want to know why - he should tell them how disgusted he is with what is going on and that he wants no part of it. He feels obliged to stay in his position until the end of his term, which is end of November. Once we come back from hols, it's not long before the closing date for nominations etc so once they have closed he will have an better idea who is trying to do what and can then withdraw or resign. I'm now hoping he will just resign at the earliest opportunity and then those that are left can get on with it and we'll be no part of it and they can then pick up the pieces.

Work wasn't as busy as I expected, although we had times where it was horrendously busy then really quiet - but weather wasn't actually too bad, so think people may all come in today as forecast is rain most of the day.

Dinner last night egg, bacon, sausage etc for DH and mushroom omlette and salad for me, tonight we will be having roast chicken as it needs using up, will do potatoes, veg and gravy with it.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

    Morning all

Didnt sleep well last night after finding out about the bank charges. Cant seen to calm down:mad:

Well just been to get petrol and one of my wiper blades has broken (adding to my already bad mood) so before I can go anywhere else, ive got to wait for halfords (once ive found it as Im fairly new to the area) and buy a replacement. may just get the pair at about £17 (one costs about £12)

need to try not to spend too much more this month as im going away for a few days to see an old friend :D. Think im gonna try the frugal friscal (I think thats what its called) for the month. With around £15 budget for groceries for the month. I'm pretty sure I can do it but i'm gonna have to be inventive. will also use up loads of my store cupboard that i've since god know when. Its gonna be a challenge

Hope you all have a good day

nmlc hope you and dh relax and have a great time
muckymoo hope you can still have a good time with your friend. it's worth checking the coupon board for freebies, i believe you can get a free mcv*ties cake which would be a nice treat.

    Morning ((hugs)) all.
I didn't get to the post office yesterday so I will go as soon as it opens. Today is mainly for cleaning and decluttering. I need to get back to the no unnecessary toiletries thread desperately!
Did anyone else get really emotional watching the gymnastics yesterday? :o It was just so brilliant and they looked thrilled! And the Lithuanian girl, aww!!

    Good Morning All

Have woken to very wet weather today - need to pop into the city soon - hope it stops by then.

Very quiet house at the moment, DS is at a friends, DD still asleep and OH went bed a little while ago as worked last night. He had a tyre blow out on the way home but luckily managed to stop safely and also didn't damage the wheel.

So off out this morning, its OH's Birthday tomorrow and need to get him a couple of bits. Also have to go to the DVLA office for lorry tax. Where we have had special exhausts fitted to go into london we can pay a reduced tax but it means I actually have to go and show then the emmission certificate. Dont know who it will work when they shut the DVLA offices.

Think will be leftover lasagne with jacket pots and salad for dinner tonight. Have been out at work at lot recently and the house needs a good going over. Also have a lot of ironing, didn't do it last week coz of the heat then have been out so much recently

Thats it for me for now, hope you all have a good day & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x

    Morning All,

Had a good day yesterday. Managed to do three loads of washing and all the ironing. Hoovered the cat hair up, (couldn't leave it till my cleaner comes Thursday!):rotfl:

DD,DSIL, and DGD came over. DD brought a chicken pasta bake which was delicious, and we had salad from my garden and mixed berries with meringues. Lovely:T

Getting my nails and eyebrows done today. I also need some birthday cards and pressies while in town. I try and do as much as possible on one day, then rest for a couple of days, works better for me.

Went to the docs yesterday too. He has given me water retention tablets. I am not so swollen today:T

Ebaying all done. Got to transfer the money to my bank.

    Have a good day all!
    I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Under "expiry dec 2012" there is a coupon for greens baking, if you buy the fillings (lemon pie, egg custard etc) they work out at 5 to -5p.
https://apps.facebook.com/bringoutthecake/?fb_source=notification&request_ids=214574365330871 should be the cake, you have to install the coupon printer i think and you can print two
