Monday 30th July Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Halight and all who follow,
Sunny today. Up early because OH has to go on a speeding driving course. Serves him right. He was caught on the A27 doing 83. He doesn't get a fine or points if he goes on the course, but that cost him £130!

Got to post. ebay stuff this morning. Ironing to be done. yesterday. Chicken for dinner left over from yesterday.

My dad had a good day, yesterday. He ate with us and at least I could watch him. He finds it hard to eat and breath together now, his COPD is in the last stages, and he is on oxygen 24 hours a day.:(

Halight Just get through the job centre, they are not very nice places.

    Have a good day all.

    Good morning all!

Feeling a bit more human today but still have a cough - hopefully not for long. Going to be a busy day at work as the phones will be manic and there aren't many people in at all.

I have to post my pen pal letters at lunch time and need to check when the library is reopening. I want to see if they have any books on making jams and preserves and maybe cheese too. I would rather not buy the books while I am just looking into it!

Really need to have a clear out - I have so much stuff and nowhere to put it. I don't have a lot of space or storage so I think I will have to be ruthless - hard as I get so attached to things. Also need to sort the garden. Lots of weeds all around after the flood.

So far been for a 3 mile walk (started raining and i'm still aching from y'days walk) gonna potter around the flat for a bit. Payday tomorrow:D. Am looking forward to bieng able to buy some fresh veg and milk as ive been living out of my store cupboard for the last week or so:eek:. seems as though ive barely touched it. it doesnt seem to have gone down much. As I have a busy (and possibly expensive) month ahead, I may see how far it will go...hmmm

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy, bright but not quite so warm here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Has been a bit of a strange weekend, although we have got quite a bit done, friends came over Sat afternoon, roof bars and box now on car, items we wanted to put in the caravan are now packed and stowed in the caravan. All I need to do is actually pack our clothes and food etc. DS2 is going to the outlaws this morning, I'll drop him off en route to work and I'll collect him Weds evening, as I have to work until Weds afternoon then only have a few hours to get all the last minute jobs done before we leave in the early hours on Thurs morn. Did some more work on the pc and the paperwork side of things is nearly done, so will sit quietly tonight and get that all done and packed into box so it's ready to go. Went over to see our friends yesterday afternoon who are travelling with us and they had got a bbq going when we arrived so we felt obliged to have something to eat with them, we then came back to my parents and my bro and SIL, sis and BIL and her family were there and the bbq was on there and so they wanted us to eat there, so just had 1 hotdog. DH went off to have a meeting with someone re caravaning - it appears that some other people think they can bend the rules/run things to suit themselves, and they are doing things against the rules - after he and I had discussed the situation last night he has decided not be involved anymore and then made the relevant telephone calls - the people he spoke to last night are not at all happy that he is so disgusted with other peoples actions that he has decided not to be involved. It's all voluntary and we did it because we gain so much pleasure from our caravan that we wanted to share that/pass on our knowledge to others. At least now DH and our family can do as we please when we please - we did do a fair amount of things we wouldn't normally do because it was expected etc. We have been told though that the matter is being taken further and it appears that something (s**t!) it going to hit the fan! and this isn't the end of the matter. No doubt my telephone will become a hotline over the next 3 days - glad I'm going away soon!! I support DH 110% - other people seem to think they can break the rules and do things their own way - unfortunately real life is not like that and we all have to do things the right way - sorry that's turned into a bit of a rant - but as you can probably tell I'm just a little cross!!

Dinner tonight will be roast chicken and I'll use up the fresh bits I've got in the fridge before we go away - won't be buying anything this week unless we're taking it with us. Work today for me - as weather not so good and rain forecast later think it's going to be a manic Monday!

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

  • Good morning all.

I need to get back on the OS bandwagon after a number of slack weeks, so I thought the best place to start was on here for some inspiration from all you lovely people. House is a complete tip after the weekend but I'm four months pregnant and have a toddler and 11 month old to look after all day so it's hard making progress when I'm already tired and there are two little people undoing all your work as soon as you do anything!

First job for the day is to do my menu plan then attempt to go to Lidl. It's hard to stick to a budget as he two year old loves putting stuff in the trolley when I'm not looking lol.

Anyway, I'm determined to make some progress today, wish me luck :-)

Hi all, sorry to hear about your caravaning woes nmlc, hope it passes quickly. Spent the weekend feeling less than human, but after a very early night last night I now feel a bit more me! Loads to do this week, painting, decorating and money saving I hope. Although DS1 has already asked if we can go out to a nice restaurant today!!! Those days are behind us, with OH not working and me being DS1s full time carer! Dinner tonight is chicken stirfry with the leftovers from yesterdays chicken, mangetout from the garden and a frozen pack of veg and noodles. Have a good day all
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning All

Quick one from me, got back from Wales last night and am off to the north of scotland today with some friends.

Did some washing last night when I got in but the drier is on so that I can take some things with me (not very OS but needs must!).

Hope everyone is well, will catch up when I get back on Thursday/Friday, Halight good to see you but sorry you appear to have lost your job.

    Take care. XX

Not been here for aaaaaages so no idea what's been happening so will just offer hugs and congrats where needed.
Just popping in to say we are expecting a brother or sister for Noah:-). DH has had a testimony that it's a boy but we shall see.
Am not saying anything on FB yet as we had a miscarriage last month and am only 4 weeks so waiting a little while yet.
