For the first time ever i have rhubarb :D I've just picked some and put it an a pan with a bit of water in the bottom but now i am wondering about a few things. The stalks are very different - some smaller and some huge, some red some tinged with green and some red in the middle and some green in the middle. It also seems…

Defrosting/Cooking/Freezing Chicken
Hi everyone, I've started batch cooking as my OH has started night shifts and the only way I'll cook a decent meal for myself when he's at work is if I do a batch of it, knowing he can take a portion to work for his dinner the next night. The plan is to get ahead of myself and have some back ups in the freezer for those…

Hi all - i am trying to think of a "cooking" activity that doesnt require actual cooking (ie no oven, hob etc - microwave okay possibly) lol....its to do with children so needs to be pretty easy ... i guess something sweet would be better - doesnt have to be healthy unless you can think of something healthy which would be…

Home remedies for getting ivory rug clean again?
Wasn't sure where to post this so please move if necessary... I have a large natural colour rug with a long pile, link here It has seen a lot of wear in our living room. I "vax'ed" it today and although it definitely looks better, it is still noticeably grey-looking. I'd really like to know if I can get it looking…

ceramic non stick cooking pans
Surprised no threads on MSE about ceramicore pans http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ceramicore I saw the advert on TV and it looks impressive. Nonstick pans eventually lose their non stick coatings and effectively you are eating the flaked off worn non stick coating with your food. This ceramicore claims to not wear away. Question is…

How to save on laundry cost - help please!
Hi all! I'm currently working out a budget based on the advice from this site. One of the areas I could do with saving on is washing detergent and fabric softener. My veg is starting to flourish, what can I do with radishes??
Me and MrZeps started growing our own veg this year, lots of lovely things growing already :j Just noticed last night that the radishes are going a bit bananas, we have picked some here and there to put into our salads, but I honestly can't keep up with the rate they are growing! Even with the neighbours eating them, there…

Make your own Taco Shells
I have just found this idea through Pinterest which looks quite good. Hopefully it will be of use to other members who perhaps end up left over tortillas. http://www.eatingwell.com/healthy_cooking/healthy_cooking_101/kitchen_tips_techniques/make_your_own_baked_taco_shells

Leftover Bombay Aloo
When we get an Indian takeaway they include Bombay Aloo as a freebie, but we rarely eat it, so I now have 2 large containers of it in the freezer. It's very mild (bit boring) and we don't normally eat potatoes with our curries (I love rice OH loves naan). Any ideas of how I can reinvent them/use them to make a tasty dish?

Here's one of my more stupid questions......
Someone bought me an individual pear and almond tart from a bakers today. Am I supposed to eat it cold or heat it up? :o I have never eaten a tart in my life. I'm more of a chocolate eclair gal. I'm so unworldly. :rotfl:
