Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 26 June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning :hello:

Why was I wide awake at 4am? I'm feeling tired already.

Hester who gave you the ear-bashing? Colleague or boss?

I’ve solved the mystery of the exploding bottles – mr tru confessed to using too many flower heads and he added yeast. He thought it’d make it even better. Idiot. I’ve moved the pop-top bottles and left the champagne bottles in the cage, I won’t open them, they’re staying there where they can explode in safety. I’m probably OK to carry on using the champagne bottles in future (using the right amount of ingredients) but I’m not going to, if one of them had exploded in someone’s hand, the hand would’ve been torn to shreds.

I didn’t get round to starting my book, I had a long weeding session in the garden instead. The chickens were grateful and gobbled them all up :D

I need to go out for bread, milk and hay but not sure I can be bothered. I’ll see how I feel when I’m dressed.

Hester, I had a thought - maybe earphones and locking your door may protect you from interruptions whilst doing the massive jobs?

Congratulations to Topsy Turphy on the new job :j Hugs to anyone who would like one.

Tru, is Mr Tru imprisoned in the cage with the exploding bottles yet?! At least he owned up to it before anyone else was injured.

I'm off to work my little socks off again....colleague is on leave and I have built up over 7 hours flexi in a week  but some of that was from watching Harry & Aliona dance the Olympic Flame around the Tower Ballroom on Friday night :D

Off to a concert with DH tonight, managed to grab BOGOF tickets that were on a Fathers Day offer ;)

Need to spend at least another 6 hours at the allotment this week - got lots of tidying to do, plus weeding and painting the shed & fences but am hoping to have a flexi day off next week to do that :)

Am off to sort out the washer and find something to take for my lunch, have a good day folks!

Morning all , dull but dry here. Jack walked and kitten is running round like a mad thing. Jack keeps trying to tell us when he thinks he's being naughty. Off to school in a minute will leave stuff for DD to do . DS will cook tonight as it's stir fry and he likes doing that. Washing to hang on line if it stays dry. Well done Topsy on your new job, HH hope you get your situation sorted. Hugs to all in need and hope everyone has a good day:)

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Bright, sunny and much less blustery here this morning. 1 load washing on the line.

DH up and off to work at stupid early.

Work was pretty manic as expected yesterday, IT dept still need to come out to our office to install the new photocopier/al singing all dancing machine that now actually doesn't really facilitate our work and we're customer facing - someone didn't make sure the machines ordered suited all the depts! Apparently the other shops already have their machines installed and customers were getting irate and walking out as processing the paperwork is taking ages - we're the busiest shop - thats really going to be a barrel of laughs then?!

Dinner last night was naughty fish/sausage and chips from chippy - had meeting with DS1 regarding his adventure holiday in 5 weeks - was better to pick chips up on the way home otherwise it's so late by the time I've cooked DH needs to eat a while before he goes to bed and he's on early turns again at the moment. Tonight I'm not really sure but have several different bits in so will decide later.

Spoke to mum last night and I'm calling in there before work as I need to drop in the written piece my boys would like the Vicar to read about Aunt at the funeral on Friday. They are seeing the Vicar today so I have to take it this morning.

Need to get a move on otherwise I'm going to be late for work as mum and dad live other end of town.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Tru silly mr Tru, glad you found out before anyone was hurt x

Topsy congrats on your new job :T:beer:

Hester who on earth made such pathetic comments. If you stopped to do something every time someone demanded something be done no one would ever get anything. Hope today is a better day xxx

    Floss enjoy your concert :)

Not much going on here, more housework and popping to see a friend this aft.
No idea what is for tea.

H is moaning and groaning because he fell @rse over tip in the dads race at DDs sports day. He's bruised his shoulder. I was still laughing about it when lying in bed last night :rotfl::rotfl:

Hugs and spoons all round xxx

    Morning All,
Sun at first in Hastings, but mist is expected later. Went to DD's for dinner last night. She did spag bol, and strawberries with meringue nests. Lovely!:j
DGD said to me on the phone "I got Sausage roll!" So I said "Where from?" "My Playbox, I hide it!":rotfl: So DD had to empty the sitting room toybox to find bits of food hiding at the bottom! Anyone would think she never feeds DGD!

Going to see Dad this morning once my parcel arrives, then to lunch with my cousin. She is doing Salmon en croute. Yum!

Must order the lavender plants from the Daily Mail website. £4.30 postage for 24 plug plants. I love lavender.

    Hope Aunties funeral goes okay.

Topsy Turvy Well done on the job:T

    Have a good day!

    Morning all,

Dull here, but will hopefully brighten up later on.

Went back to the Dr yesterday ( I had been last week and he told me I had a cold and to take paracetamol ) any way he now thinks I have mastoids (sp) and has given me a huge dose of antibiotics. He has asked me to phone him back on Wed if the pain is no better, and I may not be able to go on holiday if its still bad :mad:.
Had he given me the tablets last week, it would probably have gone by now, so please keep everything crossed that it improves by tomorrow.

Need to run dd to work later, then back for a few bits of housework, and maybe start packing.

I am going to do a fritata for dinner, which will use up a load of odds and ends in the fridge, I also want to clean the fridge out.

Got to take dd for a haircut later, had to cancel it yesterday due to the Dr emergency appointment.

    Topsy well done you xxxx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Topsy well done on the job.

    Floss enjoy the ball.

Hester hope that things get sorted out.

Redruby hope that the antibiotics work.

Tru is Mr Tru in trouble?

It is lovely here this morning, washing is out on the line and lots of windows are open to air the house.
I have a half day at work today so I am going to see a friend who has a very poorly DD, I think that I will just be there to be a listening ear as I can't wave a magic wand and make everything better.

I had a phone call from my mum last night. She was walking along the canal with my dad and a huge dog bounded into her and knocked her over. She has broken her knee and is going to be in a cast for at least 6 weeks. Healing vibes please.

    Tea tonight is HM chilli.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
