Not Old-style as such but need help!!

Hi all - i am trying to think of a "cooking" activity that doesnt require actual cooking (ie no oven, hob etc - microwave okay possibly) lol....its to do with children so needs to be pretty easy ... i guess something sweet would be better - doesnt have to be healthy unless you can think of something healthy which would be great! Its for a toddler group style group that i run :) The children taking part would be between 2-3years

Thanks xx

What about biscuit or cake decorating, packet of biscuits or ready made fairy cakes, icing and sprinkles. No cooking but fun for the kids!

When my girls were younger they used do the following:

Ice a Digestive/Rich Tea with glace icing and decorate with sweets.

Make a 'racing car' with a small finger roll, cocktail sticks with slices of cherry tomato for the wheels (there was something else added to this, if I remember I'll edit!:o)

Decorate a ready-made (home-made or shop bought are about £1.00 for 12) fairy cake or make butterfly cakes with them.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!

Wanted to get them doing just a bit more than icing is poss..... just a thought - i have (years ago) microwaved a treacle sponge....in theory, could we make a sponge mix, microwave it (in little bowls) let it cool and then ice?? And if yes, then does anyone have a good sponge microwave recipe?? Should have said - the group is only an hour and a half so would need to be able to produce something in that time - hence things like fridge cakes etc arent great due to very small fridge and them having to transport gooey unset things home!

I googled 'no cook recipes for kids' and came up with several sites, all with a variety of recipes that may be suitable. Some did require a hob to melt ingredients, but there were others that didn't.

Ideas I had were things like smoothies, milkshakes, sandwiches with a variety of fillings and then cut into different shapes, decorated biscuits/ cakes etc as other posters have suggested, mini trifles/ eton mess, fruit or veg salads, food pictures etc.
Obviously you will need to be aware of any allergies/ food intolerances in advance to help with your planning, and have plenty of parents around to assist and supervise!!!

Have to be careful with peppermint creams as they can contain raw eggs ( I was told I couldn't make them). So I got round it by buying ready made fondant icing and kneading peppermint and green food colouring into it. My nursery kids loved making them!

Fifteens? Kids love to make them, they get up to their oxters in the mix and they love to eat them even more.

    15 digestive biscuits (crushed)
    15 glace cherries (chopped)
    15 marshmallows (chopped)
half a tin of condensed milk (approx 200-250g)
    dessicated coconut

Mix the biscuits, cherries and marshmallow in a bowl with the condensed milk until it's a thick mix that you can shape with your hands.

Roll it into a long sausage shape on greaseproof paper sprinkled with the coconut. Wrap in the paper and chill in the fridge for a couple of hours and then slice into roughly fifteen slices.
