My little brother is off to uni this month and being the kind person I am, I have told him that I will visit him at least once a month and will bring food parcels..... Now apart from the essentials of beer ! and loo roll, what would make a perfect food parcel???

Knitting patterns, from Revely?
HI!!! I'm looking for somewhere that has loads of free knitting patterns please. I need kids clothes (toddlers/pre-school) and toys mostly.....although a jumper or two for myself would be good too. Any recommendations? someone did tell me about a site called Revely but I can't find it.

Waitrose milk pouches - can they be frozen??
Hi All, I was in waitrose today to pick up milk and saw those milk pouches they sell reduced to 56p so I took a chance and bought 6 of them. Does anyone know if I can freeze them??? Didnt want to try without asking on here in case they exploded. Al x

Meals with no oven or hob!
We are moving house next week and it will be a few days before our new cooker can be delivered.:eek: Do you have any suggestions about what meals we can eat that don't need cooking..? We don't own a microwave but may be able to borrow one....... We are two adults and a 3 year old. Grateful for all suggestions!

Freezer meats from the farms....
Can't find anything in the search... but I know i read on here a while ago about where to get say half a lamb for the freezer. Can anyone help? I'd like to get a hogget (older lamb) + or a half a pig - but I want the whole animal, not just the 'nice' cuts... head, trotters, offal and all. TIA!

overcooked rice in my slow cooker ! what to do ?
I managed to overcook rice in my slow cooker ! Scraped the top layer off which i am going to use with tonights tikka chicken and salad but there are a couple of mushed up portions which i am loathe to throw away and wondered if there is anything i can do with it. out of date smirnoff ice
Having bit of a drinks clearout... Am I right in thinking a large bottle of unopened Smirnoff Ice which went out of date in Jan 2008 could make one very ill and should be disposed of? Don't think I'd fancy drinking it myself, but also don't want to poison anyone else!:eek:

"cooking" strawberries
I made a low-carb rhubarb pie for the OH using ground almonds & melted butter for the crust, done for 20 mins in the oven. I want to do it again using strawberries, but I dont know how to cook them. Do I just heat them through & pour into the cooked crust ? Do I add water ? Sweetener ?

Hi all, I ve seen a number of MSE'rs buy fruit and veg boxes (I assume online), wouldnt it be cheaper to buy from the local supermarket? Whats the reason for the getting the box?

flat coke
I have two, nearly full 2l bottles of now flat coca cola sitting in my kitchen, all I know it to be good for is settling nausea. It seems such a waste to pour them down the sink, I was just wondering if any OSers know any other uses for flat cola? :confused:

Yogurty help please ladies!
Morning all! Ive just looked in the fridge, and Ive got 8 'muller corner' type yogurts that need to be used by tomorrow! Obviously Im not THAT greedy, so what can I do with them? I dont want them going to waste, so im wondering if they could maybe be mixed together, and frozen, to make an 'ice cream' type effort?

Need savoury oat breakfast ideas
With the approach of colder weather, and wanting to include more oats in our diet, I'm looking for some ways of using oats in a savoury way for breakfast. I'm happy to eat porridge with fruit but my OH is definitely a 'savoury' rather than a 'sweet' person so any ideas would be welcome.
