Freezer meats from the farms....

Can't find anything in the search... but I know i read on here a while ago about where to get say half a lamb for the freezer. Can anyone help? I'd like to get a hogget (older lamb) + or a half a pig - but I want the whole animal, not just the 'nice' cuts... head, trotters, offal and all.

TIA!

  • I used to get a whole lamb or hind quarter of beef from my local butcher, but I haven't had the money to do that for a long while hth.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Not sure if this is any good or not , try googling wholesale butchers in your county.

    Where do you live?

    too many comps..not enough time!
  • Yes I posted about a year ago. We got half a lamb for £45. I live in Sussex, near Hastings. Others could get it for a better price - it depended on where you lived.

    I live in cambridgeshire.

The link doesn't show anything local to me...
  • Speak to local butchers, they will either be able to order it for you or point you in the right direction.

We got ours from my uncle when he used to live/work on a farm, so may be worth asking farmers also.

My butcher quoted over £100 for it!

That's why I'm looking elsewhere - they wouldn't tell me which farm/s to go to, why lose potential business?

How about contacting a farm shop? I'm sorry I can't recommend anywhere as live a long way away, but I know you can buy this sort of thing from our local shop. Last time DH was there the man in front ordered a sheep!

The shop in question slaughters its animals on site, so might be an idea to search for this kind of farm shop?
