"cooking" strawberries

I made a low-carb rhubarb pie for the OH using ground almonds & melted butter for the crust, done for 20 mins in the oven. I want to do it again using strawberries, but I dont know how to cook them. Do I just heat them through & pour into the cooked crust ? Do I add water ? Sweetener ?

Not sure how you are "supposed" to do it, but I stewed some rather sad looking strawbs yesterday with a little water. Smells great, but it needs sugar, I'm adding it to apples for a crumble tonight.
The consistency is fine so I'd definately do it this way again, but will add sugar next time, just don't add too much water - a tablespoon or so is enough!
ETA - any sugar substitute would probably be fine.

Sorry mardatha, been a while since I looked at this thread... I suppose it was about 15 mins - just let them "do away" while I made tea:o.
