I'm sure I read somewhere that alluminium can taint the flavour - but may well have dreamt it.. lol Or shall I just get a large…

What do you do with crumbs at bottom of toaster?
My toaster has a crumb tray which I empty now and again; I also give it an upside down shake to get rid of any stragglers but I'm still left with several years worth of stubborn crumbs. I'm sometimes tempted to poke around with a knife to dislodge some but am concerned about damaging the elements. What do others do? Close…

What to do with dry curried chickpeas?
I have some of these, purchased from the Asian section at the supermarket. They are not raw chickpeas, you can eat them as a snack as they are IYSWIM. I assume they have already been cooked, then seasoned and dried out again so they go crunchy. However they are VERY spicy and a bit stale as they are quite old. I was…

Has anyone tried Fresh Pods?
I noticed Fresh Pods advertised on one of the shopping channels the other day:o. (OH was flicking, honest:rolleyes:.) I was just wondering if anyone had tried them? I know quite a few people use the keep fresh bags, and also wondered how the price would compare. I throw far too much over ripe fruit and veg away and really…

My own designer chook coop - what would you include?
I've been overwhelmed by the variety of coop designs available to buy and would seriously like some advice from experience keepers about what a coop does and does not need so I can design and make my own. I have a rectangular site, 3m x 2m, I'd like 4 birds and the chickens will have to stay in the coop/run on the days I…

Hi, I've been reading on US forums about drying fruit and veg, and they seem to keep their dried produce in jars with oxygen absorbers but I can't find a stockist in the UK. I have tried googling it and checked Lakeland but no joy - anyone else know of a place I can buy them please?

Cooking too much spaghetti
Every time I make this I cook too much ! Correct me if I'm wrong but there's very little appeal in a gloopy mess of cold spaghetti. I wonder why I insist on putting in extra because it doesn't look enough:confused:

I usually mop it about and throw it away but if I keep a bowl on the side with dishcloths in will it keep…

Fixing leather boots
I bought a pair of boots from the states, I've been hunting for them for nearly a year and eventually found a stockist and bought his last pair. Sadly when they arrived today, I zipped one of them up to put them away and the leather came away from the zip. How can I fix them? I don't want to send them back for a refund,…
