MealPlans WB 24th August 2009

Hi Guys!

Only 2 more weeks left of the summer holidays here. I love my DD, but will be grateful when she gets back to school and back in a routine:o I have done a 4 weekly mealplan (starting 16th Aug) for this months grocery budget as we are trying to use up what we have. I have jiggled some meals around. This week we have:

Fri-Lasagne & Salad
Sat-BBQ (Burgers, FR Sausages, HM Coleslaw & Corn On Cob)
Sun-Chicken, Stuffing, Yorkies, Roasts, HG Cabbage, HG Carrot/Swede Mash
Mon-Fishfingers, Mash, Peas & Sweetcorn
Tues-Beans On Toast
Wed-Toad In Hole, Mustard Mash, HG Cabbage & HG Carrots
Thurs-Egg, Oven Chips & Beans
Fri-Friends Over (Dutch on Indian:o)
Sat-BBQ (Burger/Sausage/ HM Coleslaw & Salad)
Sun-Chicken or Pork? Yorkies, Roasts, HG Cabage, HG Carrots/swede Mash

Will attempt to make some soup fro stock of chicken.

So what are you all having?

PP
xx

:)Do you all stick to your meal plans?
What happens if you don't feel like what you have planned, are they rigid?

I only plan ahead if I have things that need using, other than that I cook what comes to mind on any given day.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

If it bothers you so much, why not leave posting until monday  The thread will still be here, and there's no prizes for being on the front page ;)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I go shopping on Friday as I finish early, so this timing suits me nicely, thanks! :)

My meals for the next couple of weeks are going to have to be based on what I have already, as far as possible: I've spent a bit much this month and my bank account is looking a little bare!

    My week's going to be:

    Friday - pasta and meatballs
Saturday - bacon and cheese burger with roasted tomatoes (on the bbq if the weather co-operates!)
Sunday - bolognese-stuffed courgette / marrow (it's somewhere between the two in size)
Monday - hoisin pork, salt & pepper squash and egg fried rice
Tuesday - bbq-sauce coated chicken (ready-made from Asda, leftover from my pre-MSE days!) with jacket potato and salad
Wednesday - squash and coconut curry, with naan bread and onion bhajis (all hm, I hope, though I may not get round to making the bhajis)
Thursday - tuna fishcake with whatever veg is in next week's veg box

Meadows - personally, I generally stick roughly to my meal plan as I've already bought the stuff to make each meal. I swap things round to different days sometimes, though, or make something else with what I've bought if I really don't fancy what I've planned (making a chicken curry rather than roasting a bit of chicken to have with salad, for example - I always have jars of curry paste in the fridge for curry-craving emergencies!).

I'm on my own, which makes it easier to change my plan, though: I don't know what it's like if you're cooking for a family.
Back after a very long break!

LOL I've already planned my meals for w/c 31st August and w/c 7th September! We're off on hols next week so I haven't planned for next week, but I needed to plan ready for when we come back so that I can go shopping straight away and get in what we need.

I'll get lynched though if I start a "Meal Plans w/c Aug 31st" thread... :rotfl:

Meadows: I am cooking for a family of 5, and I tend to stick pretty rigidly to my meal plans. If I started chopping and changing because someone didn't fancy something I would end up throwing a lot of food away! The whole point of my meal plan is that I buy exactly what I need to cook them, and I factor in what I'm doing that day (eg whether I'm working or volunteering) and how much time for cooking that allows me. I obviously don't cook things that nobody likes, but I cook one meal for everyone and if they don't fancy it they go hungry ;)

it just bugs me that's all, not quite sure why it gets started so early  and i knew if i didn't put my 'mon, tues, wed' in, then the post would get deleted for being off topic :rotfl:

    :hello:
Yes I get confused too though I used to plan meals months in advance (always subject to change of course). Now OH works away a lot so it's not really top of my list - we just have whatever's in the cupboards and I live on pasta :(

Friday - Mum & Dads TICK
Saturday - Lasagne (will make tomorrow as got mushrooms to use up) Made it but went in Freezer - had BBQ while weather good!
Sunday - tbc Leftover pork from Mum with homegrown potato's and mixed veg
Monday - pasta if I'm on my own or I may go to Elgin with my OH Looks like pasta until Thursday :( Pasta, beans & cheese tonight
    Tuesday - as Monday Tagliatelle
Wednesday - gammon, chips & peas (mushy for OH) Spag of some sort
Thursday - Quorn steaks/sausages, mash & mixed veg Wednesday's gammon
Friday - pizza & garlic bread
  • This thread usually always gets started on the Thursday or Friday the week before.

I'll let someone else start it next week!
