I also batch cook as there is only me and DS (nearly 3 years old) so find that really helps when meal planning. I do my plan Monday - Sunday but its usually done well in advance soooooo post it when I realise the thread is up - no sooner, no later!

    Today, pizza takeaway
Sat, noodles with fish and home grown beans
    Sun, out with friends
    Mon, bolognaise with spagetti
    Tue, aubergine parmigiani
    Wed, chilli from bolognaise
Thu, fried fish with HG veg (whatever is ready)
  • My meal plan is flexible as it depends on how tired I am after work or if I can persuade DH to do some prep for me before I get in

Sat Leftover KFC from tonight (been a long week)
Sun: Chicken Leek & Potato pie (done in the Remoska
Mon: Fish Fingers, Oven Chips & Bean (DH can cook this)
Tues: Shepherds Pie - made using the mince recipe from Economy Gastronomy :D
    Wed: Pasta and Sauce
Thurs: Sausage Mash, veg & Gravy
Fri - Spanish Style Chicken (done in the Remoska)

I have to plan my meals around DH's shifts usually if on lates it has to be something either quick to cook or easy to warm up. He's off all next week though :j:j which has made it easy.

I like looking through my receipe books and matching the ingredients to my cupboards so I don't have to buy too much in.

I take my lunch to work but that's decided in the morning when I'm making it.

    Hiya guys,

I'll repeat Sunday here but my meal plan for the week is mainly based around my horrific G/C total for the month and needing to clear my freezer. I didn't quite stick to last weeks, I've rejigged everything. Tomorrow (I have to work, snarl,) we're having the cheesy lentil burgers and HM chinese feast, so I will tell whoever was interested how the burgers go. Anyhoos, in the Maitane household we are having -

Sunday (23rd) - Lunch: Turkey & Pesto sandwich, crisps and a caramel shortbread (down from £1.75 to 27p last night)
Dinner - HM Fish, chips and mushy peas (with a £13 turbot Mr Maitane bought that's in the freezer )
I'm going to make the original carrot and coriander soup to be frozen as I have the stuff for it.

Monday - Lunch: Ham salad sandwiches, crisps and perhaps, twinks or cake.
Dinner - Quorn sausage and lentil casserole with dumplings and some fruit
(Mr Maitane is having proper sausages, he hates Quorn, then going to his mums as it's my Dungeons and Dragons night - yes, I'm a nerd! :o)

    Tuesday - Lunch: Leftovers
Dinner - HM Hotpot, veg and cake or twinks from Monday.

Wednesday - Lunch: Leftovers (possibly in a sandwich)
Dinner - Burgers, waffles and beans.

Thursday - Lunch: Tuna salad baguettes (I'm having a crack at making baguettes)
Dinner: Chicken laska (drooool) with prawn crackers

Friday - Lunch: Leftovers (pre funeral)
Dinner: Pasta with HM meatballs, garlic bread, salad and maybe, a sneaky bottle of vino. ;)

Saturday - Lunch: Bacon and eggs.
Dinner: Smoked mackerel risotto and vegetables.

Sunday - Late lunch: Roast beef, roast potatoes, yorkies and veg.
Possibly some victoria sponge with jam (scrum)

Are you saying you plan a months menus in advance or am I just thick. No, don't asnwer that :rotfl:

Was just wondering as I'd been mulling over the idea of trying to do a months plan at a time, with some allowances of course.

    Hiya,

Yeah I do my 4-weeks worth of planning then just order it meal by meal when it comes to do the shopping, it makes it easier for me to keep track of what I've ordered!

Sometimes I just cheat though (when I'm struggling for ideas!) and do a meal plan for a week and times it by 4 so we have the same thing once a week but rotate the days we have it...if that makes any sense!!

We got back from holiday last night, and I have my food arriving tonight (Sat - ordered it from the holiday cottage) and the veg/fruit box on Tuesday. However, I originally planned it as one week's food and now I want the meat to last two weeks because we need to cut back - OH has reduced his hours at work for the second time, and so our income has dropped about £500 a month, with NO drop in childcare costs (he isn't really well enough to take over the after school care). The first drop we absorbed quite easily, but this one is trickier. I'm also facing a really difficult autumn term at work, so although we're poorer I'm less time rich than ever. Oh, and OH hates slow cookers and breadmakers.

    So ...

Sat: spaghetti carbonara (bacon on the side, extra veg in the sauce)
Sun: slow cooked lamb, potato gratin, roast parsnip, runner beans from the garden
Mon: leftover lamb & veg & gravy
Tues: smoked haddock soup & hm bread rolls
    Wed: vegetables in cheese sauce
Thurs: corn fritters, salsa, bacon on the side
Fri: curry night using some of the lamb from Sunday

We will not have touched the mince, the prawns, or the smoked pork loin so they will be the basis of next week's plan.

To answer the question about whether I keep to it: not really! I tend to chop and change, but what does stay the same is the protein components, the changes are what days we have them and whether I have time to cook something more complicated.

    Hello everyone,

Not posted a meal plan for a few weeks. Starting my maternity leave this week though so will be different not taking lunches to work. Hopefully it will give me more time for batch cooking and stuff though before baby arrives!
I normally post my mealplan for Mon - Sun, but don't really mind when the thread starts! I normally post on a Sat once I have read all of the others for ideas and do shopping on a Sunday. Everyone plans and shops differently so you can't please all of the people all of the time!

    Anyway........

Mon - HM Meatballs in Onion Gravy with Mash & Veg
Tue - Vegetable Lasagne with Garlic Bread
Wed - Beef Casserole with Mash & Veg
    Thu - Chilli & Rice
Fri - Cottage Pie with Veg
Sat - Prawn Yakisoba (OH's speciality so he can cook)
Sun - Roast Chicken, Veg, Mash & Yorkshires

Not sure about lunches this week as I will probably be out and about baby shopping and meeting up with people, and DH is on a course all week so doesn't need packed lunch! Probably make some HM soup though.

I probably stick to about 5 out of 7 of the meals, and sometimes switch days around depending on if plans change or how tired I am after work. But if I don't plan, it would be totally to pot!

Have a good week everyone. I will shut up now! :o
