Cooking too much spaghetti

Every time I make this I cook too much ! Correct me if I'm wrong but there's very little appeal in a gloopy mess of cold spaghetti.
I wonder why I insist on putting in extra because it doesn't look enough

Have fried spaghetti as a snack0

I've got a spaghetti measurer like this: http://www.amazon.com/Danesco-Spaghetti-Measure/dp/B0000VLLY8 (except mine is plastic). That way I can measure out the right number of portions (I measure out 2 adult portions for my 3 kids)0

I do this with every kind of pasta!
I keep meaning to find out what the reccomended dry weight is so i can weigh it before I put it in...But google seems particularly unhelpful.Aim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!Saved = 100% on 03/07/12 :j0 -
I'm no fan of cold pasta either but I believe it is good added to a frittata;)0

Does it say on the back of your packet? My packet says 80g per person, you could start with that amount and then work up or down depending on how hungry your are!0 -
80 g if there is a chunky sauce, 120g if it is just tomato sauce only.
per adult.
I always weigh pasta. Never chuck any away either.0 -
I cook about 80/90g per person, bit less for children...if I do cook too much I usually find that I have done too much sauce as well, so I cover the pasta with it and freeze it for another time...works well, I'm not a frozen food fan normally but we had spag bol the other day that had been cooked 3 weeks ago, frozen and nobody noticed any difference.

Not sure what it is in grams (can't get my head round metric) but I cook 7 oz pasta fusilli to feed 2 of us; Mr LW has a larger helping than me (about three fifths of the total amount). I do cheese sauce with diced onions and fresh tomatoes to go with this.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

fried spaghetti snack? OK I'll try that and weigh in future.0

I use 100g per person. It's usually a little too much - could probably get away with what the packet says, i.e. 80g.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
