Cooking too much spaghetti

I still do this with pasta. Every time! I've managed to get my rice portions sorted though.
How on earth can I get one so right and one so wrong every time? /sighThis is not an automated signature - I type this after every post.0 -
I'm forever doing it too. Although I don't bin the leftovers, I add a tin of mized beans to it, some form of sauce (last one was a meat marinade!) and it makes a nice pasta salad to take to work!Lynzie Lou :dance:0

I had left over pasta shells last night - OH's eyes bigger than his belly yet again!
I dropped the cooked pasta into cold water to stop it from sticking together. Then drained it, mixed some SmartPrice 'philly' with mayo and a little milk (would have used creme fraiche/yoghurt but had none in), mixed it all together and sprinkled with fresh chopped chives.
Should have had it for lunch today but completely forgot about it - will make sure I use it up tomorrow.0 -
I used to measure spaghetti for four by using as much as would fit in the circle between my first finger and thumb, although DS and DD were smaller then.0

I saw a gizmo to measure it with in John Lewis last week. It was something like £7 - £11 so I left it where it was. Thought I'd have to cook a lot of spag to make it ever pay for itself!0

Well you could weigh it.....
If you are getting a gloopy mess after you are over cooking it. Cook it so it still has a bit of texture to it "al dente" drain it all even if you have too much, serve what you want, take the remainder, put in a tupperware and mix with, left over sauce, or some chopped tinned tomatoes, or some condensed soup or some pesto, or some tuna mayo or some philadelphia etc etc and hey presto! Tomorrow's lunch!
Trick is don't over cook and don't leave it in the water.0 -
You can buy spaghetti measures cheaply. I saw one in Asda last night, just a flat piece of plastic with different sized holes. I think it was only a quid or two.0
