OS wooden clothes props
Has anyone any idea of anywhere that sells these? Preferably the adjustable ones with 2 pieces of wood and pegs to adjust the height. My metal ones don`t seem to last very long and either go rusty or the plastic adjustable scrw in bit breaks off. I`d like a wooden one like my mum used to have but one piece of wood wouldn`t…

Dolly pegs?
Where can I find, some good old fashioned pegs.....you know the sort they used to make peg dolls from? They had some in Tesco, but they look as flimsy as anything, and the ones with a spring don't seem to last five minutes! I'm sick of replacing them now  Thank you :D

How to clean a whiteboard?
Hi, I've been given a massive office whiteboard by a friend who is moving offices. The only problem is that it has been well used and could do with a good clean. I know you can buy products from Staples, etc. to do this but surely there must be an OS way to get it sparkling white again! All ideas welcome Anni

FJ's 'beat the credit crunch with a quid-odd butty box' challenge!
Me and my mate were chatting about what takes most of our weekly budget and we realised that it was our OH's dinners! I work at home most of the week so I can eat cheaply at home but he has to eat out for his dinner as he works all day, 5 days a week. We decided that we would try to make tasty boxes up for a 'quid-odd'…

Non-ripe apples
Hi all, I've googled and googled and googled but I haven't found an answer to this so hopefully someone might be able to help me out. Our apple tree, getting on a bit now, has had one of its main branches snap. This means that about 50 apples are now not going to get any bigger. What should we do with the apples? We were…

Cash not Card
After a Sainsburys trip for bread and milk I had handed over the Switch card and entered my pin without even noticing the cost:o I was nipping into the supermarket 2-3 times a week and buying stuff that was not on my list. I tried to do on-line shops but we need milk, yoghurts and fruit more often than that. SO i withdrew…

Homemade wine - demijohn alternatives?
I acquired a demijohn from Freecycle yesterday, and also scored an old wine-making book for 50p at a charity sale. I read through all the wine-making threads I could find on here and now I'm all fired up and want to get brewing! It looks to me like there are advantages to having more than one demijohn (not least of which…

Menu planner / Shopping list generator
Hi all One of the things we've always been really bad at in our household is proper menu planning. With that in mind I've had the idea for a long time to create some sort of database of recipes that would automatically generate a shopping list (the idea being that we just get what's on the list and avoid random purchases).…

Cheap KTC Brand Tinned Tomatoes in ASDA
If anyone is thinking about "downshifting" to these, stop thinking about it and do it. Stock up with a few. I reckon they are very good indeed. On paper - the label - the drained weight is only 240g (compared with the ASDA standard own brand ones at 260g). On the plus side, they are from Italy, where they know a thing or…
