Non-ripe apples

Hi all,
I've googled and googled and googled but I haven't found an answer to this so hopefully someone might be able to help me out.
Our apple tree, getting on a bit now, has had one of its main branches snap. This means that about 50 apples are now not going to get any bigger. What should we do with the apples?
We were going to neatly sever the branch and chop up the wood for our fire later in the year but it is such a shame to waste all those apples. They aren't ripe until October but will they ripen if we leave them in situ, take them off and leave them in the sun/not in the sun or are they only fit for the compost?
I'd love to know if anyone can stop me wasting all these lovely apples!

There's a recipe in weezls 50p a day challenge for a sour apple curry. You could try looking for that. Maybe someone else will put up the link. Or you could stew them in honey?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Hi there  I'm not sure you'll have much success trying to ripen these apples, as they're not yet fully grown. I'd take them off, store them in a cool, dark place (I use apple boxes with moulded cardboard inserts from the supermarket) and use as cooking apples.
There's a thread here with recipe ideas; I'll add this thread later.

I have used unripe apples as stewed apple in blackberry & apple
Does need more sugar of course
You could stew them & freeze for later perhaps?Gardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -
So I should be able to use them still? Just won't be able to eat them.
That's OK, I'm happy if they're not wasted. I'll see what I fancy doing with them using the receipes suggested.
Cheers everyone!
Any other suggestions welcome.Matched Betting Profits since May 2006: £467.330
