Has anyone any idea of anywhere that sells these?
Preferably the adjustable ones with 2 pieces of wood and pegs to adjust the height.
My metal ones don`t seem to last very long and either go rusty or the plastic adjustable scrw in bit breaks off.
I`d like a wooden one like my mum used to have but one piece of wood wouldn`t be long enough and i doubt that i could make the peg bits. I remember that they had some sort of banding too to keep the 2 pieces of wood together.
Thanks.

Saw these for sale just the other day in our local hardware shop (think they were priced around £4.50) - so they are still around. I think your best bet is a small independent ironmonger/diy shop like this. Hope you have one locally.

OO i didn`t think that anywhere would have them. The hardware stores that were local to us have all dissappeared now.
We are in Yorks too, Sheffield to be exact are you near to there?

can you not buy 2 bits of wood and drill holes and just screw them together or use a nut a bolt even to make 1 long clothes prop.0

Got any garden canes? A friend of mine made a very serviceable prop by tie-wrapping two canes together! Left a tiny bit of slack at the top to allow the line to slip between the canes, but pulled the wraps tight further down.0

I doubt that the canes would work for me i`m afraid.
The washing line runs the entire length of the garden and the weight of a full line would probably snap the canes.
I`m going to look at the diy centre when i get chance to go, hopefully soon!
Thanks

Hi Sunnyday!
If you're ever in CHESTERFIELD try
JOHNSONS IRONMONGERS
Chatsworth Road (A619 I think)
Chesterfield
It's on the Brampton Mile near the end or Barker Lane
They are £4.99
early closing on Wednesdays! - yes, it's that old fashioned.
I am not connected with them in any way other than as a customer.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
