Good Morning,
Just off to get the sticky
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 28/7/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Havnt started the thread for a while. Have forced myself up early so I can get some essential paperwork done before we go out for the day. Also need to make a nice picnic, am feeling very tired but as we are probably going to the beach I will be able to lay down and chill when I get there.
Didnt catch up with the thread yesterday so hope everyone if ok, (((hugs))) if needed. Had a good day yesterday. OH picked up a News of the World so had a £5 off £30 Tesco voucher again so went and picked up some bits for our picnic, was so happy as only spent £31 and that included one of their Kath Kidston bags. Also went out to lunch which hit my budget but spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden, it was very hot and sticky.
My Dad came over on his own and was a bit sad to see him as he is a little depressed at the moment, he wont do anything about it and deal with what is causing it so have to sit back and let him work it out - only he can change things. Still hard though.
Anyway Im in my office now, will hit the paperwork hard for an hour then go and boil eggs and potatos (not together) for potato salad and egg sandwiches.
Have a good day all.

Good morning, Juliejim and everyone that follows. For some reason I'm up early - can't sleep - so I'll get a few things done before work. I'm still really enjoying this place - thanks for the welcome yesterday.
Got to get a few bits and pieces done in the garden now - after the rain, I'm sure the border I'm prepping for veggies next year will need weeding!
Here's to a nice and easy day at work, and may everyone have a lovely day.
FrugalswanContinually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!0 -
Morning everyone.
It looks like rain is on the way. Can't deny that we could sue some to help fatten the veggies up, but I am laying a patio over the next 2 days. so perhaps not too welcome just yet.
Had a great lazy day yesterday with an evening BBQ and pint. Then a bit of top gear to finish off with. Could not sleep too well as it was quite muggy last night.
Well have a nice day.....NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all, what a great w/end we all seem to have had.
Congratulations CANDYGIRL, welcome to the club I was made a Nan at 41yrs old and now 15yrs later I'm gonna be a Nan for the second time and am just as excited. I did some shopping y/day at halfcost.co.uk and got a teddy uplighter lampshade for 75p and a quited Noahs ark cot decoration for £1 they are lovely and so cheap. There's loads of other things and they are constantly changing stock, might be worth a look. It's quite a saving.
I understand what you mean about your DD seeing the baby no matter where he is, I belive also.
DH has just got up so will strip the bed and put WM on, BM on already, can hear DH empying DW. Have loads left over from BBQ last night so no cooking today.
We are going to panel the utility room today ready for fitting the recycled units.
Enjoy the day folks.0 -
Good Morning Juliejm and all to follow.
We seem to have clashed threads so hopefully someone will merge my post with this one.
Lovely sunny day here again in Essex - sorry N9eav0 -
Good morning everyone,
Had a lovely day yesterday, DD and i vegged out on the sofa watching a dvd after having a play in the kitchen with a 'kitchen experiment' kit! Made what they discribed as fizzy toffee (all to do with carbon dioxide!), but its that honeycome stuff that Nigella made on one of her cookery programes! DS had gone out on his bike with a friend - so its not often we do things like that!
Today, at the moment the weather looks lovely, however i bet it changes by the time i want to go into town. We have run out of fruit and veg, so really need to go to Mr Ts - normally visit a few different shopd to get the best deals, so we will be out for a while later!
Nothing else planned, i have no work today, although i do have children here the rest of the week, which is why im going to make the most of today and although shopping isnt their favourite pasttime, i can do things with my two.
Congratulations to Candygirl on becoming a nana (or due to become)
((HUGS)) to PP, hope the hospital visit is short xx
Elona - voted yesterday for your DD and her friends!!

Morning peeps
i`ve got to confess that i`ve not read any of yesterdays thread at all yet:eek:
I was at w*rk all day yesterday and it was dire, everything that could go wrong did and i was very glad to get home, i was so exhausted that i fell asleep for a couple of hours. Didn`t sleep too well last night due to the heat and now i`m back at w*rk.
Hope that everyone is well and had a good weekend, i`ll read it later when it`s quiet.
On a better note the tomatoes in the greenhouse are thriving and there are quite a few fruits on there now, the last of the strawberries are now ready so i`ll pick them later tonight.
The usual bits and bobs have been done this morning wm,dw and bm all on so that Mr Sunnyday can empty them when he gets up, he will also be doing the dog walking this morning so i had a bit of a lie in until half past 4.
Some of our neighbours are in sunny Newquay this week and next so there are 3 members of our doggy walking club missing atm and it seems very strange without them, they have certainly picked the right time for the weather! Can`t wait for our turn in September
Frugalswan - welcome!
Candygirl - i gather that congrats are in order
Best go and do some w*rk now, catch up later.
Have a sunny Monday guys.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Oops two threads this morning:D I'll join this one Essex girl because it has more replies even though you started first, they'll be merged later.:D
Sorry haven't caught up with yesterday's thread at all yet, will do that later today.
Didn't get the back garden done yesterday, best laid plans and all that:rolleyes: I had a lovely *ninny day* instead:D DS2 had an emergency work from home day and DGS were being more than a bit distracting, so DIL brought them over to us. We had a great time! Suggested she could have a few hours to herself which she jumped at, and promptly went shopping:D She brought me back a box of Hotel Chocolat choccies. Not good for the diet but great for the mouth:rotfl:
I'm just off to the gym in a minute, then I shall have to go shopping for some birthday gifts needed in the next week.
Later I'll be making a huge pot of chicken curry. The chicken is all thawed ready to go;) The clever bit will be cramming the excess back into the freezer.
Well must run, will catch up later.
Have good days everyone, CM xYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Good Morning
Thanks for the welcome yesterday.
First loaf in BM for a while wasn't a total success, too doughy, guess the ducks will be happy on my way to work. Y/day I bought he kids 50 balloons filled them with water and suggested they play cricket in the park, I love to hear them laugh.
On return from work I have to do something about the lawn again, I hate mowing, and getting rid of of the grass cuttings before they start to smell. My garden is in need of TLC and I am not at all a natural born gardener, can barely keep the house in working order.
WM on and am about to attempt Flylady for this week, won't set the bar too high though.
Is warm here already, really fancy spending the day in a book but have to save that for another time.DC.

morning all
another hot day here, although according to twink its meant to be cooler this week:rolleyes:
off to costco today to top up on stuff, get cat food for twink and might get some for us as well, see how many bags they have of it
ds1 seems ok now, still having dizzy spells and doesnt look right but tummy seems to have settled down a wee bit, still sore now and again but as least its not agony for him like it was, still dont know what caused it, he was also really hungry yesterday, very unlike him
it was really noisy yesterday with the bats making a racket all day yesterday, hear them in our bedroom, from 6.30am to about 10 last night they were squeaking away!
congrats to candygirl:j
elona - haven't voted yet, but will do today
