Troo - thanks SO much for posting the Sky news links about the pier and for giving it attention. I can't believe that it was also headline news on Radio Two's last two bulletins. Weston is a longstanding but affectionate joke because the tide never comes in (hence it's other name of Weston-super-Mud!) but it was a fantastic place to grow up in in the fifties and sixties; I would not have wanted to grow up in any other town.

    Hi everyone

Just caught up on rest of saturdays and yesterdays thread. Congrats nana to be Candy.

Well I had my fix of seeing the sea yesterday, even though it wasn't my sea it was still good. Before I moved up here, the furthest I ever lived from the coast was 18 miles, mostly was about 1 mile, I know what others mean when they say they don't go to the beach much when they live there, but I can tell you, if you move away from it you will miss it! I wonder how my DD will feel, she has lived on the coast all her life but moved 'inland' last week.

DSD got sunburnt yesterday, I did have suntan lotion with me but she won't use mine as its factor 15, and she only wears factor 2 :eek:I have argued till i'm blue in the face with her that it won't stop her tanning, have shown her articles on the importance of wearing it, made her watch that advert that shows people with sun damange so I don't say anything anymore. Did mention it to OH but he just did the man thing saying she'll either be ok or it will teach her a lesson.

Think OH is going to be out all week so only me to feed, will probably use up stuff from the freezer. Not doing a lot else as 1) spending most of the day in the garden as don't want to waste the sunshine and 2) my ankle is still a bit sore, but pulling a few weeds is ok :D

    Afternoon all.

Today's the first day of my last week down here so I'm racing round (but not too much in a 21 foot long motorhome  ) trying to get sorted ready for Sunday evening when I finally return to my beloved Yorkshire :j :j :j The main task left is to load the box trailer onto the chassis and fasten it down. Once I've made some mudguards and bolted the towball onto the motorhome, everything is ready to roll :T

I just can't wait to get up there and start living the rest of my life.

Hope all are as good as can be and there aren't too many cases of sunburn out there

    Man try :D

    Hi all.

I'm very late online today. It's too hot to bother with much today, I reckon we'll get a thunderstorm later. It just has that "feel" to it.

My canine guest is asking to go out, so I'll love you and leave you for now.

Anne, do you think they could be twins?! My DH is constantly asking me where things are like his spirit levels, tools, even his b****y great mitre saw that weighs half a ton and I have never had to use any of them so why should I know where they are? The thing is, I usually do because I just seem to absorb into my brain where everything is. He actually cannot understand it when I say I can only concentrate on something when he's out of the house! And don't even ask about the 'cup of tea' thing! They must surely be related or is it just that they are men?

I shed a few tears watching the lunchtime news about my beloved pier - seems daft over a structure but it really is so sad. I can't believe how much coverage it is getting - around the world, apparently. Seems a lot of people had a soft spot for it, not just those like me who grew up in it's lovely Victorian presence. I do think it was just about the best pier in the UK but perhaps I am biased!
