    Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :D

    Morning everyone,

Well DH was to stay home today due to this truck strike that is happening but he got a call at 9am to start at midday. He'll probably be late home tonight now. It's absolutely freezing here. Did a bit of baking this morning & cleaned the bathroom out & washed. XDIL & DGS came down for a visit this arv and have just left so I didn't get any sewing done.

Tomorrow morning I plan on going over to the nearby island to check out the new shopping centre that opened today. Hopefully they'll have some good specials. DGS is sleeping over Wed,Thursday & Sat nights this week. I hope we survive to tell the tale. :D DD finally got into her unit last night.

Twink Thank goodness DS1 was safe.
fixielust Maybe if you told the old bat down the road not to make much noise, she'll stop. She's probably high on hobnobs. :D <hugs> to master fixielust. :D
jannyanne Hope your day at work goes well.
 to the new posters. There's a few odd ones to watch out for ;):D

Well off to make DH packup and get tea sorted. Have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning all,

looks a bit more overcast here today but still very hot & muggy.

Essex-Girl - did you get the flowery or spotty bag?? I have got a spotty one but my Tesco don't seem to have the flowery :( (and they don't know if/when they're getting any??) I keep looking cos I really really really want one. Did I say I REALLY want one?! lol.... I use my spotty one loads! (If any OS'ers have got a flowery one they would be happy to sell me that would be lovely....)
(((hugs)))) for your dad too - I agree, just knowing he can pop in & see you probably helps.
N9eav - no bodies going under the patio are there...?! How's the chickens??
Catowen - fizzy toffee sounds good! My DD's would enjoy that - do you have the recipe?
Pixie, glad to hear the boys are on the mend now.
Twink, your DS1 also had a lucky escape from the sound of it!
JannyAnnie - good luck with going back to work today, try not to get too stressed about it (easier said than done I know!)

Off to Uni this morning to meet mates for coffee & look at research proposal planning tool we were given for October. We're going to see if we can make any sense of it..... (I haven't got a clue, lol!! Not freaking out at all about dissertations, etc. I'd much rather someone gave me a question to go away & answer).

I looked at the 6 week motivation thread yesterday & although I haven't joined (yet) I do plan to use the summer break to do some clearing out/tidying up. I have a log cabin in my garden that was supposed to be my craft room/study/sleepover room, it's become a bit of a dumping ground in the past few months, so isn't being used. I really want to get it cleared out & back to how it should be & make it a comfy den. My mate came & took my old DW yesterday that was out there, and I am going to try & get some boxes from somewhere so I can properly box up the boot-sale stuff & I will put that on freecycle - I'm sure it can bulk out someone else's boot sale table (exOH kept saying he would have it & 6 months later it's still there  )

Anyway, enough waffle from me. Have a good day all.

EDIT: Fizzel - what did you do with the bicarb when you put it on your hair?? Did you mix it with water then put it on??

    Good morning everyone

I'm Back! :hello: Had a lovely time on Islay. I think it must be the friendliest place in the UK. All the drivers wave to everyone so it's rude not to join in. I did get a couple of strange looks when I carried on doing it back on the mainland, mind. :o The people are so friendly and helpful. We were made to feel welcome wherever we went.

Back with a bump though as I'm off to w**k shortly and I'm on my own for the next three weeks. :( It's payday so it's not all bad. Will try and get DS and DD some new school shirts when I'm in town paying my salary cheque in at the bank. I wonder if M&S are still doing the 3 for 2 on schoolwear??

I will need to do a full shop at the supermarket as the fridge and cupboards are empty. Might look at the Waitrose offer as I think that's still on so I may just do the absolute minimum today and place an order for delivery later this week.

The plants are looking rather wilted so I'm assuming it been hot and dry here while I've been away. Shame it hasn't stayed that way. :( Overcast, muggy and miserable here today.

:hello: to all the newbies, :j to those with something to celebrate and (((hugs))) to all those who need one for whatever reason. Sorry, I haven't read all the threads I missed while I was away. I will try and catch up over the next few days. twink glad your DS escaped unhurt. Pen-pin hope the hospital stay is quick and painless.

    Have a marvellous Monday. xx

    :hello:
    Mornin

Well it seems like most of us suffered from the heat last night, it is still very hot here, the sun is shining but we do have a bit of a breeze, so thats not too bad.
OH is still snoozing away so I can sit here to my hearts content, without him
huffin and puffin and asking who I am talking to now :rotfl:
Havent got too much that desperately needs doing today, other than shopping that is,dont mind that because its usually nice and cool in Mr M`s:D
We seem to have run out of loads of stuff, trouble is, shopping for Mum and MIL we sometimes forget bits of our`s.
DS2 and DIL never came over last night, they went to see Mama Mia, and absolutely loved it, he txt me at stupid o`clock last night to say how much they enjoyed it, Great I said, now go to BED!!!:rotfl: Talk tomorrow.

O Twink hope DS1 is ok, he was so lucky it was only a scratch, it could have been much worse, (I know I`ve been there)

jannyannie hope work goes ok for you, sometimes its just the thought of going that makes it worse, if it all gets too much disappear to the loo every hour on the hour ;)

Pixie glad to hear DS is on the mend

I can hear movement from above, better get the kettle on, he loves his first cuppa of the day does OH:D

(((((((((HUGS))))))))) to all who need or just want one today,

    Anne

WM & DW on, garden watered & kitchen cleared, Sewing machine has been humped downstairs, I have curtains to line & they are too big to do upstairs as my sewing room is now full of BIL's carp & is likely to be for some time.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Me again. A really quick question re chicken stock.....

I have a chicken carcass left over from yesterday - do I just bung it in the slow cooker with a load of water & leave it for the day to get chicken stock?? And then do I skim the top off?? Can that stock be frozen? I'm going out just after 9 & thought I could get SC going with it before that, if that's how to make it.

    Thank you :)

EDIT: Welcome back AnnieBL, sounds like you had a lovely time!!!
