Hi,
I've been given a massive office whiteboard by a friend who is moving offices.
The only problem is that it has been well used and could do with a good clean. I know you can buy products from Staples, etc. to do this but surely there must be an OS way to get it sparkling white again!
All ideas welcome

If someone has written on the whiteboard in permanent marker instead of wipe-off pens, you can get rid of it by using a rubber - just a normal eraser that you would use to rub out pencil - it really works!

We clean ours with nail polish remover if someone has written on them in permanant marker, that brings them up sparkly. Or alcohol would work too:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0

So far, decent cloth e.g. towelling, a squirt of washing up liquid in a bowl of warm water, and wash then rinse. The cloth will get pretty black pretty quickly and need repeated wringing out, but evntually it works. Microfibre cloth, no good.

We use a damp cloth on ours. We have the proper cleaning sprays but a damp cloth works as well if not better0

Thank you everyone:T . It doesn't appear to have been written on with permenant marker - it's more like a general build up of grunge where it hasn't been cleaned properly for years.
I'm going to start by trying the damp cloth and washing up liquid, move on to the nail varnish remover and if it's still not clean I'll try the alcohol (seems such a waste).
If all else fails I'll get the Flash thingy!
Then once it's nice and clean I can begin writing all over it again (with dry markers).

Hi Anne, I used neat stardrops after a diluted solution didnt work. It was horrible, old bits of sellotape and gunge from many years on my whiteboard at work (a new office to me, of course). My colleagues joke about my stardrops obsession. In fact, I think I may still have a bottle stashed in work0

Alot of nail polish remover contains acetone which might initially remove the marks but over time will degrade the surface of the white board and make matters worse(it loves eating plastics). If you can find a windscreen wash containing isopropyl alcohol (IPA/isopropanol/2-propanol) that might work.0

I attacked the greyboard in my office with a dry Tesco value MF cloth today - it got a lot of the greyness off with a bit of elbow grease, but I will be giving it the Stardrops treatment tomorrow!0
