How to clean a whiteboard?

  • If the other suggestions don't work, I'd agree with KatsMeow. Pure acetone based nail varnish remover is too harsh.

If you can't find an IPA based screenwash, or don't want to buy one, Baby oil might work, but you'd then have to wash the baby oil off with a detergent.

If you have any non-acetone nail varnish remover, test it on the back or a corner. If the finish becomes matt, or the cloth drags, or you in anyway sense its being damaged, stop. Do the same with WD40, Buddy, etc if you have any.

I can think of a few other things which will dissolve it, PM me if you get stuck.

Try using methylated spirits that should clean off the gunk.

Any suggestions gratefully received. I've thought of bleach...?

    :D
  • When anyone used a non-whiteboard pen on the whiteboard at work we would do one of two things- spray hairspray on it and wipe it off, or write on top of it with a proper whiteboard pen then wipe it off.

Hope one of those works for you.

got-it spend-it's suggestion definitely works - to remove indelible pen from a whiteboard simply scribble over it in delible (whiteboard) pen, wait five minutes, and rub off.
