Sasauge, cabbage and gravy yumm (have half a white cabbage chopped up boiled and smothered in thick gravy instead of mashed spuds) yummy.
Sweet potatoe, parsnip and courgette roasted cubes.
Raw colliflower trees, mushrooms and sweet peppers (not a lot of prep as can be eaten with salad).
Carrot & swede mash with chops.
Peas, sweetcorn and brocolli with rice.
the list is endless!
MMMMM off for my dinner now making my stomach rumble. Back soon.
Enjoy!0 -
for more traditional meals of the meat and two veg type, we love swede (cooked and mashed with carrot is lovely as well), peas, broadbeans. My husband likes peas mixed with sweetcorn with meat and two veg, but he's on his own for that one! Broccoli goes down well in our house and roast parsnips are my personal favourite0

Whatever is in season (off the plot), whatever is reduced in the supermarket and then what is cheap on the market.
Yesterday it was reduced purple sprouting and lettuce. Will do a warm salad with the sprouting and a few new potatoes, broad beans and peas off the plot, a cold lettuce salad, to go with cold chicken. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
For gravy-ish type meals e.g veggie shepherds pie, casserole, quorn sausage and mash, roast chicken etc we usually have carrots, broccoli, cabbage, peas and sweet potato mash (on top of shepherds pie). If we are having a full roast then I will also add cauli and runner beans to that as well. It may sound like a lot but we have very little meat and no extras like roasties or yorkies.
For things like grilled chicken or falafel in pitta or veggie burgers we have lots of fresh chunky salsa (vine toms, cucumber, mint, lime juice, olive oil), lettuce and avocado or corn on the cob
For Chinese/Japanese/Thai food we have ribbons of raw corgette and carrot with beansprouts and a peanut dressing or Wagamama ginger dressing
I also make a fresh coleslaw that has kohlrabi, carrot and red onion, we tend to have that with veggie burgers or mexican food as a side dish.
We have a salad with most evening meals as it reduces the amount of snacking later and also ensures we get plenty of veg.0 -
peas or beans mainly. corn on the cob if feeling posh... lolLong time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Whatever's in season. Today we were treated to a salad freshly picked from our neighbour's garden as I was cooking dinner. (Carrot and carrot tops, beetroot and tops, rocket, radishes)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Hi please can you tell me what "kohlrabi" is? Sounds tasty.
Sprouts & white cabbage are a with gravy favourite for me. Coleslaw is shredded carrott, shredded apple with sultanas mixed together.
Thanks0 -
we tend to have mostly what I know the kids will eat so as no waste. carrots, brocolli, cauliflower, swede, cabbage, green beans.
although I do try to get them to try new things it tends to only be when something is on offer.:)Do more of what makes you happy:)0 -
Hi,we like spring greens with toad in the hole and gravy
If we boil a ham,we cook savoy cabbage in the ham water, tastes lovely
How about some braised red cabbage with a casserole and mash
Cauliflower cheese with lamb(when we can afford it)
Otherwise its just a variation of what veg is cheap,on offerThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
anything I get in my riverford box plus a side salad. 3 veg with a cooked meal and often a soup made with more veg. At least the 5 a day just in veg but it isn`t hard to eat them as they are so lovely steamed.0
