Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Hope everyone is well and happy and raring to go
just though t I would start the thread as I am up and let the cats out ,,, Its a lovely morning and its nice and cool ,, the rest of the day will probably be blisteringly hot .
I do not like it hot like it has been
See you later

Morning Kaat and welcome to Zoe - good to have you with us on this lovely thread!
Well, my feet have barely touched the floor lately for some reason; I didn't have much computer time yesterday and have missed two days worth of news.
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Mrs Mix, Chrisca, Beth, AnnieStar and everyone else who needs one.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
We're off to church later for the last reading of the banns for DS2's wedding and then DH has to go to work to do some plastering that must be done today. At least I'll have some time on here then!
We had some wine last night and I can feel the effects of it in my head so I hope that wears off!
I bought a new mouse for the PC yesterday because my old one was failing; I chose a cordless one at only £14.95 which is ideal because it can be used either side of the desk - DH is left-handed and I'm right-handed and he has always looked awkward trying to use the mouse with his right hand - I don't know why we didn't think of it before!
We also went shopping and found that it was the last day of the Julian Graves half price sale so I stocked up on seeds and spices and their lovely marshmallows.
It's going to be another hot one today - the sun is already almost on 'full beam'!
Dinner will be chicken that I roasted in the Remoska yesterday with salad and new potatoes which we'll have to have tonight when DH gets back from work.
Anyway, I'd better go and have a shower. I'll catch up later and try and read the thread properly.
Have a good day, everyone.

Morning everyone,
Plan to have an easy day after y/day mixing concrete. WHATATWIT, you asked if they were old flagstones, yes, our cottage and the 2 buildings ajoining were built in 1540. We couldn't lift the flagstones because they are huge and the stone walls are built on top of them, one was over 26" x 42" and 4" thick.
DH and I plan to pick B/berries as the country hedges are thick with them.
Will make pies tomorrow.
Have planned a BBQ, lots of YS food to bung on. Must blitz the HM soup I made y/day, portion and freeze.
PENPIN, hope all goes well at the hosp tonight. x
SMOKIE, glad you all enjoyed your day out.
PIXIE, hope your DS is feeling better, you have had your hands full lately.
(((((( Hugs))))) to all in need.0 -
Good morning everyone  I've been out to talk to the hens, and I think it's going to be a lovely day :j
We've had a hectic weekend of partying :T (this'll probably be the last party for years, though). We had one on Friday night, and our HM and HG food went down very well (jerk chicken, burgers, lettuces, tomatoes, cucumber, raitha, coleslaw, tomato chilli salasa, cheesecake, rhubarb fool, chocolate cake, fruit salad). As the sun went down we lit the chiminea (fueled by waste wood) and lots of candles, and stayed outside until midnight :T
Last night we went to the friends who are emigrating, and took a HM cake. We met up with lots of old friends who we don't see so much now we don't chat at the school gate
DS is in Northumberland on Scout camp (with a batch of HM brownies). DD is doing his paper round soon, then later this morning she starts her voluntary summer job at the Playscheme - they're meeting to set up the hall. We'll then take her out for a bike ride, with the promise of a pint of coke and fresh chips at a pub
Supper will be HM burgers on the barbeque with HG potato salad, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
A very early morning all[STRIKE]well for me anyway[/STRIKE]
I'm up sooo early cos I haven't slept cos i'm sooo excited....................i'm gonna be a Nana:j :j :j DD and her lovely BF are having a baby next March.Yep I know it's very early days yet, but they have told everyone, and i'm absolutely buzzing with excitement:D
I really will have to get my house in order now, and make a room for the baby, and declutter, and chuck out all my old hoarded rubbbish:D
I am quite a youngster to become a Nana, but my mum was only 42 when I had her soooooo;)
My Dad cried when she told him, cos he doesn't know if he'll be here long enought to see the baby, but me being spiritual told him he will see it either way, and I truly believe that:oI was told 4 months ago that there was gonna be a baby in the family soon, amongst other things, so I am convinced that he will see it:o
Anyway off to the car boot again with DD after to look at baby stuff, i've promised not to buy anything yet but.............:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Anyway HUGGLES to all in need today, and have great Sundays everyone xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Lovely sunny day here. I am off to takwe the dog out first, then church then lazy Sunday in the garden I think. May be beach... not sure. I don't care much for the beach unless it's hot enough to body surf.

(((Hugs))) to Master Princess Pixiedust - hope he is feeling a lot better today.
PenPin - thinking of you and wishing you all the best in hospital tomorrow. Did you have a good week away? I've missed a couple of days on here so I'm not up to date with all the news.
Well, I must get breakfast organised.
See you later.

Mioliere-We had a wonderful time away thanks.
My bag is packed for the hospital later and I shouldnt be in for more than 2 days.
I am feeling very tired today as I didnt sleep too well, so am having a LARGE glass of OJ to give me a good dose of Vit C.
WM is on and washing will be hung outside. Toilet is clean and house clean and tidy. My helper is here tomorrow, so will leave a list of jobs for her to do.
Anyway, will catch up later.

Morning all,
Welcome Zoe (and any newbies who follow later).
PenPen, sounds like a lovely sociable evening, I haven't had one like that for a long time.
Betheebee, think you definitely deserve a rest too from the sound of it. The cottage sounds fabulous just from its age alone.
Candygirl, what wonderful news to give you all some happiness
N9eav, I find that living in a seaside town means I tend not to go to the beach as much as other people who don't live in one think you would. In summer it's so heavingly busy with millions of foreign language students & daytrippers (who leave huge amounts of rubbish on the beach   ) that it's horrible. Now that the Angus Thongs film has just come out (set in EB) it's going to be even busier!!! But you can all see what my town's likeIt's certainly not a town of only old people any more - just a shame the shops don't always understand that.... I like it best on a summer evening when it's been a really hot day, the tide has gone out & to just go & paddle & then eat a bag of chips
PenPin, hope the next couple of days go ok, take care.
Not sure what OS'ing going on today - probably some general tidying up rather than baking & stuff. Really need to sit & mealplan too, may well investigate getting a small chest freezer that will tuck away somewhere until I get power run out to my cabin in the garden. I need a bigger house!!!!
