Hi everyone and welcome to Different Corner - great to have you with us!
Pippa - my new mouse is great but it's so responsive I can hardly keep up with it!
Yes, Donny - we're so ungrateful, aren't we? It is SO hot, though and we're just not used to it!
Fizzel - if I was you dreading your week in August without the LOs, I would make plans now to be really busy to help take your mind of them not being there. Perhaps save any decorating to do or something like that?
Well, I've been to church with DS2, his bride-to-be and her Mum and we had a good time. It was a lovely service and they said someone there who was a Chaplain with the Seafarer's Mission; he has been all round the world in that capacity including Hong Kong and he has some heartwarming tales to tell. I found it very absorbing. One of the hymns was my favourite, 'For Those in Peril on the Sea', which I really enjoyed. The banns for the wedding (the third and last) were read out and no-one objected to DS2 marrying his sweetheart so that was good! We then went back to their house for some coffee and a chat in the sun and I've just got back now, starving hungry, so I'm off to make some lunch. DS is working all day plastering, poor thing. Not much fun in this heat but it's for good friends of ours and they spoil him rotten with food and constant cups of tea and it's only five minutes away so it could be a lot worse.
I hope everyone is having a good if sweltering day - at least it's lasting; I daren't check the weather for the wedding day which is 08.08.08!
Anyway, must get something to eat.
See you all later.

Good afternoon everyone!
Lovely and sunny here too so lots of washing on the line! Another load to go in the WM in a minute.
Been busy cleaning the kitchen, today's my only day off for the week so want to achieve clean kitchen, bedroom and bathroom by the end of the day! Everywhere else isn't too shocking at the moment!
OH has gone out to help his friend do his roof and when he returns were having a BBQ so must pop to asda for some baby potatoes! Think we have everything else in stock, we went to out friends house last night and got sent home with 12 buns so that saves me getting some.
Our team is moving at work tomorrow so I'm also going to make some cakes this afternoon to make the move a bit more enjoyable
Hope everyone has a Super Sunday! :beer:Small business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0 -

Really hot day here and have just walked back with shopping so shattered.
Going to put salmon fillets in the oven with some stuffed mushrooms and have broccoli , asparagus and new potatoes to go with it.
Kaat- lady
I need to make some bread as well - because I am trying to go low carb I do not notice when the bread is disappearing.
I'm not sure where to put this request and feel embarassed asking, but DD(14) and some friends have entered a competition to win a makeover and a day in London and would love to make it to the top three.
The name they have chosen is "lipstick violation" and we would be really grateful if a few people would vote for them.

Phew!!! just come in from the garden it sure is hot out there,I love it really but can stay in it too long, as being blonde with a fair skin I end up burnt and looking like a lobster, even with sun cream on factor 30.
I have cut a bush down, did`nt want to but it looked as though it was dead inside, you know all twiggy no leaves, so if I cut back now while the weather is good then feed it loads, it will spring back up again. I did the same with a euonymus (right spelling??) last year and it was beautiful this year full of flowers.
OH is out on the front drive with the karcher, it is such a mess and really needed cleaning, he`s moved the cars onto the road and the trough onto the grass, and going along quite happily muttering to himself;) I asked if he wanted lunch and he said to wait until he`d finished.
Thought we might be out for lunch but DS2 and DIL are coming over later.
mioliere I know what you mean, when I first had mine I was all over the place with it. Glad the service went well, not long now :T
melvis looks like we have all gone washing mad these last few days, making the most of the good weather
fizzel I reckon mioliere is right, you need to plan something to keep you occupied. I used to hate it when my 2 were away camping with scouts or cubs, that week always seemed more like a month.
I think it`s time for a cold drink

Thank you , that is really sweet of you.
Now if you had several hundred friends with different computers they might be in with a chance! lol!;)
It is so hot at the moment I do not want to cook but have a milk loaf started in the panny, new potatoes in a sucepan as wel as other veg, have stuffed some large mushrooms, drizzled lemon over the salmon fillets etc.
I have even put some spicy chicken thighs and low carb sausages in the oven just so so I have something diet friendly to pick at tonight.
Going to have a coffee and just relax for a few minutes!"This site is addictive!"
