USB dash port
More and more devices are coming with USB plugs rather than the traditional cigarette-lighter plugs. I want to fit a USB port to the dash of my old Merc. Wiring and location not a problem, but I am finding it hard to track down a suitable socket. I want something which will sit flush to the dash and be neat. All I can find…

Foil in the Lighter / Power Outlet
Somehow I've discovered some foil in the lighter outlet in the car. I tried to move it with a plastic pen but it just sparked. I can't really be bothered to disconnect the battery so was thinking I could take the fuse out and thus it would be dead enough to use some plastic tweezers and grab it out? Safe enough? Thanks

Trainers for speed awarement course were awful and one made a lewd remark at me
Is there any point complaining about this? They were so awful at their job that even if this was a company paid for course I would of made a complaint. Obviously I won't ever get a refund, but the course was not presented well at all and a remark was made at me that I would involve hr if made in the workplace. Is there any…

Car needs new water pump, will Vauxhall believe me ?
Hi In august I bought an approved used Vauxhall Corsa 2015 plate. The vehicle was only a year old with 19,000 miles on the clock. It was an ex-rental, so its first 19,000 miles were probably very hard. The car has been fine. But, for the last week or so, at all times there is a high pitched whine coming from the water…

Learners on motorways
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38464776 Seems eminently sensible to me as long as they are supervised by approved instructors. Also suggestions that learners should complete a minimum number of hours of tuition. Also probably a reasonable idea but 120 hours is being mentioned. I did well more than that while learning but not…

AA home start and vehicle recovery to a garage.
My daughter's car failed on Christmas day and was stuck in the road outside our house so we called the AA first thing on Boxing day. The patrolman diagnosed a failed clutch and asked me if we had a preferred garage we use. This was a pointless question as it was a bank holiday and so was the following day. At any normal…

Fix it or dump it?
New to the boards, so apologies for just barging in and for any hideous errors inadvertently made... Daughter's car died on the way home from uni earlier this month, leaving her stranded on the hard shoulder of the motorway in the dark, freezing and on her own (she's 20) while she waited for the AA to get to her. Not good.…
