Surrendering Driving Licence

Options
Hi all.

I have a quick question.

I have just accepted and paid a Conditional Offer that was offered to me for a speeding offence.
I now have to surrender my Licence for the points to be added within 7 days.

However, I also have an LGV Theory Test in a few days time, where I also have to provide them with my Licence.

Any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance

    So let's rewind.

When did you get the conditional offer? Taking that as day 1, when is the hgv test?

Can you do it then surrender your licence?

Received the Conditional Offer Of Fixed Penalty on 17/10/16.
Contacted the issuing Police Force to have payment date extended until December 30.

Paid the Fine yesterday. Letter says as soon as payment is made, you must immediately send your licence within 7 days.
It also says they will return my Licence via 2nd class post.

My Theory is on January 12th.

Can you reschedule the theory, I know it's a bit of an annoyance, but they don't make any promises on how long it'll take to return it.

By January 12th you'll be well outside the 7 days (which I assume you already know), especially as it may be that it has to reach them by day 7, so you need to include postage time.

Another option could be a certified copy? I'm not sure if this is at all possible, but if you got a solicitor to make a certified copy of your licence would the test centre accept that?

Is there an issue that you're then showing a copy of licence that doesn't include points?
I thought most licence checks were now done online. Can you get that code to show them instead?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I presume you're on a photocard, rather than an old unchanged-since-the-90s paper licence? So, really, there's no NEED for it to be sent off. Quite why they still insist, I have no idea - there's nothing actually recorded on the card itself showing points.

    Yes, have a photocard.
Thats what I initially thought, with it all been digital.
But I take it I still have to send it off, despite it being wholly irrelevant?

AIUI it's an additional security check, without which you could have named someone else at the same address without their knowledge. Still not 100% foolproof.

To accept a fixed penalty, the driving licence is required to be submitted (as a form of identity check). If it is not, any payment made is refunded and the matter is then dealt with at magistrates court.

No, especially since they don't actually check the photo against the holder...
