AA home start and vehicle recovery to a garage.

My daughter's car failed on Christmas day and was stuck in the road outside our house so we called the AA first thing on Boxing day.
The patrolman diagnosed a failed clutch and asked me if we had a preferred garage we use. This was a pointless question as it was a bank holiday and so was the following day.
At any normal time of year, does this mean that they would have towed it for me at no cost ?
I have since arranged a booking at a garage after the new year holiday weekend so I need a tow. Would I be in a position to ask the AA to do that for me now.
At this time of year it is not straightforward to get a car booked in immediately ..
Thanks

Might be worth reading the terms of the AA policy you have, surely that will be the best place to find the answer?0

If the car doesn't work, why didn't you just let them drop it off outside a garage (in a sensible place!) and then ring the garage after the holidays?0

Sister had an option of having her car taken to a garage or taken home and then for her to sort out the repair, she unwisely chose to be taken home and then had to arrange for the car to be towed in.
As they have not moved the vehicle then maybe a call back to see if they will move it, if not find a local garage that can bring it in for a reasonable cost.

Hi steveharvey2001,
If your daughter gives our breakdown team a call on 0800887766, they will be able to advise her further.
