USB dash port

More and more devices are coming with USB plugs rather than the traditional cigarette-lighter plugs. I want to fit a USB port to the dash of my old Merc. Wiring and location not a problem, but I am finding it hard to track down a suitable socket. I want something which will sit flush to the dash and be neat. All I can find are units which fit into an existing cigarette socket (I already have two of those) but I am looking for a separate unit which will be permanent and unobtrusive.


Has anyone found anything like this online?

TBH, I'd just fit additional cig sockets, then some of the flush two-USB adaptors in them. The electronics to drop the car's 12-14.5v down to USB's 5v may well prove fallible. It's easier to replace the adaptor than to try to replace the entire socket.

There are videos on Youtube showing how to fit and wire USB sockets. Plus a quick Ebay search will bring up a whole variety of suitable sockets.

As above, I already have two of those and I don't want an extra lighter socket. The location I have in mind wouldn't suit a full-size socket.

I have searched eBay and couldn't find anything but the adapter type. Maybe have to look again.
