Separation - Telling the children & housing arrangements
Don’t really know where to start, my wife and I have recently separated with me moving out of the family house, there have been problems for around six months now and visits to Relate and other attempts have failed to get us back together. My current issues are around how to tell our two young children (5 years old and 18…

Divorce - Mediation v Solicitor - Pros and Cons
Just about to embark on a divorce - the wife has agreed in principle we should have a 50/50 split. Should I go with a solicitor mediation service and get final consent rubber-stamped by a solicitor or just use a solicitor alone. I have been told that the moderator route is cheaper but at £150 per hour each person it is…

Trying to save money at family party
My OH's extended family is having a party in a month. They've decided to get outside caterers and they are fundraising as well. child minder query
I have to employ the services of a child minder for a few days a week. One thing I am surprised is that they require/expect to be paid for statutory holidays and school holidays, although its 1/ 2 normal rate. Is this the norm for child minders? I am not happy to be paying half rate just to “retain” their services…

Pregnancy - Boys vs Girls
When I had my boys, both pregnancies were a doddle. I had a bit of sciatica with the eldest as he spent a few weeks "back to back", but that eased off when he turned back the right way. Apart from that, I had no problems and was fit and active right through till birth. I even painted the kitchen ceiling the day before I…
